Citysearch Editorial Review. The name and exterior of Kabab House may make you think it’s simply a to-go joint slapping slabs of meat into defrosted pita bread—an image that couldn’t be further from the truth. White tablecloths cover the tables, soon to be filled with baskets overflowing with naan breads and spice-laden dishes from the owners’ home country of Pakistan. The menu is simple and full of gems, especially the specialties of the house—don’t miss the Nehari, a spicy beef dish that will make you swoon with its flavor. Both the website and your first experience will remind you that often the best food is worth the wait—nothing is rushed at Kabab House, and the food will come out only when it has been perfectly cooked. In the meantime you’ll sit, smelling the amazing curry scents wafting from tables full of Pakistani families enjoying a feast from their homeland.

Best biryani. Best biryani in Seattle. The cook is a little inconsistent sometimes, however when the is in form the biryani is asweome.

biryani refreshes the soul. having visited this place, when biz operated one block south of current location. I remember days when line neatly formed through seating area, as patrons patiently marinated.

i?m continuing to enjoy single-minded GOOD food focus, at the kabab house; all dishes are authentic and flavorful

vegi somosas are amazingly more appealing than somosas I?ve eaten in the motherland (india).

chicken kadi, shai panner, naan, and kababs are all wothy of exposure @ this seattle favorite

Yummy.. We went there in a large group. It was fabulous. How do they make so many different dishes in such a tiny kitchen? The mango lassis were wonderful.

Not very good. Not very good. That is all I have to say. Frozen meat in the Nihari I had. Tandoori chicken seemed to be re-heated, Dry. Not impressed with service either. I was diverted from samosa to stuffed naan, a joke. And, the worst, cold dry rice on the plate.

Best biryani in town if not on the coast. Been here many times over the past 5 years. The best dish is the chicken biryani served on saturdays. Highly recommend the chicken tikkas and virtually anything that comes off the tandoor (grill).

The ambience and decor is mediocre but the food more than makes up for it.

Heads up Indian/Pakistani food lovers this is as authentic as it gets !

Don't go there if you want to eat. 1. Decor - Horrible. The walls are completely bare. How difficult would it be to hang up a few pictures?

2. Menu - Limited. Not to mention they didn't have a third of the items that we wanted to order. Some of which we were told wasn't available until 20 - 30 minutes after we had ordered our food. How can an Indian restuarant run out of samosas? That's like a ballpark running out of hotdogs, or baseballs.

3. Service - Horrible. Half of our party got a few of the items they ordered after about 20 minutes (not bad). 10 minutes later, my wife received her dish (which turned out to be really spicey). I had been told several times by our waitress that my order was coming, but after 50 minutes of no food, I cancelled it. I will never go back again. A restaurant with service this poor doesn't deserve to be in business. Not even for takeout.

4. Food - Bad. Some of the dishes come with rice and salad. Rice consisted of cold, dry rice. Salad, a few tiny pieces of old iceberg lettuce.

Conclusion: This place is awful. DON'T SUPPORT THIS RESTAURANT WITH YOU HARD EARNED MONEY!

Disappointed. After all the great reviews I've read in the Seattle Times, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer and The Stranger, I was looking forward to eating at Kabab House. What a disappointment! Let me count the ways:

1. Atmosphere. It looks as if they have just moved 1 block north, to 8202 Greenwood Ave., as the walls are completely bare and there wasn't a shred of decor. It was like eating in a sterile yellow box. In addition, the telephone kept ringing and the ringer was up to what had to be the maximum volume and the phone would only be answered after 3 or 4 rings, which really put a damper on conversation (remember, you're eating in a bare room so the phone echoes). Finally, the compact fluorescent lightbulbs were flickering madly. I expected to go into a seizure at any moment.

2. Food. Unless you know what to order, stay away! After hearing so much about the samosas, they were out of both the meat and vegetable samosas, and nary an apology to be had from the personality-challenged waiter. He did try to steer us toward the stuffed naan, but I'm not going to reward incompetence with a higher-priced selection. We ordered both the chicken and the beef boti kebabs. Both plates came with about 8 chunks of meat, a pile of unadored iceberg lettuce and some dry white rice with two leaves of cilantro on top. The beef was cubed into pieces that were bigger than bite size, and it was tough, dry and hard to chew, hardly reflecting the marinade the menu promised. Compounding the problem, we had not been given knives with which to cut the meat.

3. Timing. When the plates came out of the kitchen, we had been waiting 20 minutes. It was obvious that the meat had been taken off of skewers as there were holes in it, so how long does it take to slide the meat off the skewers, dump some rice and iceberg lettuce on the plate and get it out to the dining room?

We were disappointed in the food, the service and the atomosphere. We won't be back.

Great - if all you care for is food!. One of the better places for authentic South Asian food (Pakistani to be precise - which is more Indian than Indian!), this 'hole in the wall' is a must for lovers of quality cuisine. Not for the 'light of heart', the spice can be captivating or overwhelming - depending on your 'tongue'!! Try the curries (especially Halibut Masala & Karahi Lamb & Chicken Bazari) and Kabobs (although not ever enough for the price) - they are exquisite. Naan (too thick) and Biriyani (too much) are average. Take-out is better for folks for families, but if you don't mind quick, brisk service, the food is best enjoyed eating-in at this dive...
