The Scene – Spare and elegant, the small room features lovely chandeliers and plenty of dark wood. Still, it has the feel of a simple neighborhood restaurant, equally appropriate for a lunch sandwich or a romantic dinner. Service is speedy and pleasant; expect honest menu suggestions and jovial humor from the whole staff. – – The Food – Start with the simple roasted garlic and grilled bread; smooth, buttery flavors whet your appetite for further courses. Add blue cheese to the crunchy garden salad for a real treat. The cheeseburger is hearty and richly flavored,…

Not just organic, but gourmet cooking! What a joy for all and those of us with food sensitivities.

by snowlady

Incredibly flavorful food, prepared to your specifications (in my case migraine issues), and presented attractively. I was able to eat gourmet instead of boring without concern, including dessert. What a rare treat! This is one of Seattle's best for anyone who enjoys fabulous food. (And a must for those of us with food allergies and sensitivities.)The chefs know how to spice food to match food issues, creating tastes that are both flavorful and subtle. Ignore the salon; Seattle's famous for a little funk and the restaurant itself is gracious and the service excellent.

  • Pros: Eat AND enjoy with peace of mind.
  • Cons: Location could be better but then you'd never get in to eat here.

One of the best restaurants in Seattle

by hgwells

My favorite restaurant in Seattle. I've never been less than totally satisfied with the food and the service. Everything is made from the highest quality organic ingredients. Even the beer and wine are organic. The dishes aren't fussy- more like high class comfort food. Don's chicken is a classic, if you like chicken do not miss this wonderful bird. The steak is top-notch, the superior quality of the meat really makes a difference. If you like liver, you just have to go down to the Sterling and order the liver, don't even think of this as an option, it is that good. The pasta dishes are all winners. The soups, the salads, the appetizers, not a loser in the bunch.

Some people have the idea that an organic restaurant will be skimpy in the portions. Not at the Sterling! The portions are huge, my wife and I usually get at least three meals off a single entree. Of course we save room for dessert. The Sterlings desserts are fantastic, the best banana cream pie I've ever had. And the chocolate cake- the thought of it is almost making me drool on my keyboard.

The service is warm, friendly and attentive. Don (the owner and head chef) and his staff always makes us feel right at home. No matter how stressed I might be I know that my tension won't be coming in the door with me. Thanks Don.
