Editorial Review for Tap House Grill – by Renae Martin
The Scene
Sumptuous, high-backed booths, stucco walls and funky lighting take this pub to the next level. Businessmen in khakis and button-downs entertain out-of-town clients; couples snuggle in booths; and white-collar coworkers crowd into the bar to down a few brews. Classic rock and chatter from the bar livens up the the dining area; oil lanterns and white linens keep it slightly upscale.
The Food
All that beer would be enough of a draw for many places, but the Tap House takes on fine dining as well. Tender sashimi-grade tuna steaks are rolled in poppy seeds, seared rare and served with darn good garlic mashed potatoes. Chicken breasts are stuffed with Gruyere and mushrooms and pan roasted to perfection. More casual fare--sandwiches, burgers and fish-n-chips--show hints of excellence as well. For dessert, have a cool root beer float or the grilled pineapple served with tongue-tingling chili chocolate mousse.

This place is one of my favorites for happy hour in Bellevue! The beer isn't cheap, but you can't beat $2 sushi! And they let you try different beers if you don't know what you want. The one time I wasn't there during happy hour, I ordered the salmon teriyaki roll, and it was huge and wonderful!
Pros: Beer selection, cheap happy hour, good sushi
Cons: Bar area fills up quick during happy hour, sometimes loud and hard to find a seat

Important stuff to start off with, place has a good beer list nothing is to deny that. Solid bartending but a bit pricey (but that's Bellevue). The bad basically is that the crowd is the ugly pseudo-rich crowd one comes to expect of Bellevue. The wait staff (other than the bartender) was extremely tired. Showed up for a thursday happy hour and it was already packed, imediate impression was that this is your standard downtown business lunch joint. Judging by the wait staff they'd all been there since about 11am and worn out. Generally the crowd was what you would expect of the people in downtown Bellevue, tired, badly dressed, with a bit more money than they know what to do with. The food was good but I wouldn't pay the non-happy hour prices for it.
Pros: Beer list, drink value
Cons: Wait staff, crowd
