Bellevue >Ruth's Chris Steak House
Don't waste your time! Go across the street to Daniel's.
We went there based upon the open table review that it was $$$ and Daniels was $$$$. We were taking my FIL out for his birthday/father's day. When I ordered my steak I was very clear that pink was OK but I wanted to see no red ooze out while I was cutting it. My MIL ordered hers between Medium and Medium rare. When the steaks came out mine was about medium rare, slightly less and hers was pretty much raw. So I gave her mine and sent the other one back.......3 times! the fourth time I told them to just keep it. My FIL said that people all around us were sending their meals back.
The mashed potatoes had so much butter it was piling around. If I wanted to eat a stick of butter I would get order extra for my bread and eat it with a spoon. The broccoli was just plain nothing special. The best meal ordered that night was my daughters chicken strips.
We frequent Daniels several times a year. Have been doing so for 11+ years. In that time I have never had to send my steak back, they get it right every time. And you know what, it's cheaper. At least at Daniel's my $35-40 gets me my choice of potaoto with my steak. And that is where the difference in $$$ comes on the open table rating. Who in their right mind would order just a steak?
We will never eat at Ruth Chris again, especially with Daniel's right across the street.
Very unpleasant experience and way too overpriced for the quality of service and food! My husband makes much better steaks! We went there with a couple of friends just before Christmas, based on a recommendation from a co-worker.
The service was very, very, very, very slo-o-o-o-o-w! And they were not even busy! As if the server ?appraised? us as not potentially important clients and decided to not ?waste? any time on us.
The food was mediocre ? of course it?s a matter of taste, but the steak was not even spiced ? just grilled, with some butter on top. Yes, it was a good cut of meat, but I could buy the same quality meat on Pike Place or from the butcher for the fraction of the price, and marinade and grill it myself, without having to deal with "snobby" service.
worst service ever. With a group of my 9 Asian girlfriends, we decided to do a dessert night out. We were seated promptly as they were busy, but after receiving our menu, our waiter passed our table in the middle of the room countless times, obviously ignoring us, serving other tables who arrived after us before even giving us a glance. After successfully hailing him down, he took our order without a smile, without courtesy, without apology. After complaining to the manager, the manager said this waiter would be fired immediately for his inept behavior and attitude, as we thought it was a racial matter as well. Another waiter filled his place for the rest of our night and was way beyond superior. But upon returning with another friend a month later, the horrbile waiter that was promised to be immediately fired was walking around, waiting tables! How and why? I'd like to know. Ruth's Chris does not cater to their patrons as promised. I'm very disappointed and offended.
Best service and steak!. I'm not a big steak person but this was the place that absolutely turned me onto steak. Steak totally redeemed itself for me at this restaurant. Not only does it come served hot on a plate when it comes to your table but the steak is served on a hot plate slathered with butter. It was absolutely delicious. Our side orders were great too, garlic mashed potates and sauteed green beans with almonds. Everything came in the perfect amount and portions, not too much not too little. It had a great ambiance, was very classy and the service was spectacular. Our waiter did not hover over us but he also did not forget about us. Great for dates or with a group of friends!
Excellent food and impressive service!.
I LOVE this place! My husband and I have been here several times and the food is consistently good. We have also been to Daniel's Broiler several times, but after a couple of bad meals there we have made Ruth's Chris our new favorite special occasion place. The steaks come out sizzling, so the last bite is still as hot as the first. The sides are plentiful enough to share and the hot apple tart topped off with a glass of Essensia or Elysium dessert wine is pure heaven. Since we usually go on a Saturday night, we are always greeted by the same waiter, who knows us by name now and always makes us feel welcome. There are special touches for special occasions - confetti on the table and champagne toasts for anniversaries. It's a great place to celebrate!
For the record, we once ate the Westchester, NY location and it was not nearly as good. It was crowded, noisy and food was not nearly the quality of the Bellevue location. Plus, the service was very slow. I guess it really depends on which one you go to.
FANTASTIC steak and potatoes.
Our family of four went, son ordered a filet mignon off of the child's menu; the rest petite filet mignons. DELICIOUS. Piping hot, served on a sizzling plate, the last bite of steak was just as hot as the first.
Our sides: sauted mushrooms, garlic mashed potatoes, potatoes lyonnaise, and potato au gratin. While the mushrooms and mashed potatoes were excellent, the potatoes lyonnaise and potato au gratin were FANTASTIC and we will order two of each next time rather than any other sides.
We were very happy with the quiet atmosphere and prompt, attentive service (at least 5 servers: refilling glasses, making sure steaks and sides met expectations, changing place settings).
Disappointed that for this price the bread is not served hot.
We will be returning - the price may limit the number of times we can go in a year, but not the amount we enjoy the food!
We left $3.. When we entered the two ladies at the front podium looked like deer in headlights. No, you can have seat in the bar area, no, can I help you. Just blank cattle to the slaughter stares. So we walked by and sat near the bar area. We were greeted by a waitress and given water and my friend ordered a beverage. The beverage arrived and we didn't see that waitress again. My friend and I were one of two tables in the dining area and must have been there for about an hour. No what can I get you, sorry for the wait. We sat ignored as the dining area filled up and other people were helped. We were so disgusted we left. We shouldn't have left any money for the beverage.
Happy Hour!. Just check this place out for happy hour. Huge $2.50 pours of house wine. The seared Ahi tuna in spicy mustard sauce is the best deal. Skip the zucchini w/ crawfish. The tenderloin bites wrapped in bacon only come w/ 4 and can vary in tenderness....so it's a gamble. I recommend sticking to the house wine, beer, Ahi and the $2.00 burger. You can feed 3 people easily and get a bit tipsy for under $50. Don't bring any of your rowdy college buddies though.......it's a nice place.
THE NEW GREAT STEAK HOUSE IN BELLEVUE. I HAVE BEEN OUT TO MANY RESTAURANTS IN THE BELLEVUE AND SEATTLE AREA AND THIS WOULD RATE UP THERE TOWARDS THE TOPS. I HAD BEEN IN THERE QUITE A WHILE AGO IN THE BAR, AND AFTER RETURNING CLOSE TO 3 MONTHS LATER THE BARTENDERS REMEMBERED ME AND MY GIRLFRIEND LIKE WE WERE IN THE LAST WEEK. WE THEN WENT UPSTAIRS TO THE DINING ROOM AND HAD A PERFECT DINNER. THE STEAKS WERE COOKED PERFECTLY AND STILL SIZZLING IN THERE SIGNATURE BUTTER. AFTER THE EXPERIENCE WE HAD, WE WILL BE BACK EVEN SOONER!
We loved it!. I was hesitant to go after reading the previous reviews, but on recommendation from a colleague my husband and brother and I had a nice, elegant meal there on a Friday night. We were seated right away, the service was impeccable, the food was excellent, and it was an altogether good experience. They are pricey, but so is Daniel's, the only restaurant in the area that comes close.
