In Short
Indian art, picked up by owner Donna Moodie on her transcontinental travels, adorns jewel-toned walls, while raw-silk cushions cling to the ceiling. Even at near capacity, the moodily lit dining room remains serene, while the cozy, adjacent bar hums with activity. The seasonal, globe-trotting menu offers eclectic items like salty plaintain chips with grilled pineapple guacamole, curried mussels, pan-seared scallops with vanilla bean-infused cream and five spice confit of muscovy duck leg.

From the outside window it just looks like a small bar, but a fair sized dining room is inside. The tiny bar is usually busy and the dining room was packed on my last visit. The dining area is a bit cramped. The walls are stocked with bottles of wine. A chilled mood is set with the dim candle lights and upbeat ambient groove music. The setting is good for a date or a hangout with a couple of friends (keep in mind that the tables are small). The tastiness of the food is what stands out for me. My recommendations are the organic spinach, pepperoni pizza, and duck leg confit. The duck is fantastic: very tender and falling off the bone. It’s also very rich. The robust flavors of the pizza and fresh frites are good with a red wine. A ½ order of the plantain chips is the way to go for a small appetizer. The service has been great: attentive, giving good menu advice, and positive attitude. Marjorie is now one of my favorite joints with a funky ambiance.
Pros: Decent Prices, Decent Proportions, Environment
Cons: Belltown Parking, Cramped Dining Area

My boyfriend and I celebrated an anniversary at Marjorie and found it to be the perfect place for us. The setting was casual but the menu was spectacularly formulated for a diverse palette. We enjoyed a wonderful array of appetizers and shared a duck entrée. I was very pleased with the service for a Friday night. The staff were not overtly friendly but took care of us in a collective manner. The only complaint may be that there was no bread basket and everyone was only offered one small piece of bread. Besides that the dining experience was very satisfying and the ceiling décor was tasteful and funky. Highly recommended.
Pros: ambience, service
Cons: bread
