Editorial Review for Feldenkrais Center of Park Slope – by Drew Pisarra
The Space
Despite training as physical therapists (and a clientele that includes folks recuperating from physical injuries and/or neurological damage), co-owners Leslie Wilder and March Dolphin are quick to stress the psychological applications of this somatic methodology. Increased consciousness is the focus of their approach to Feldenkrais, as is the attainment of harmonized mobility and the development of improved flexibility. Your brain will be asked to stretch, not just your muscles.
The Service
Trucks rumbling outside the two adjacent lemon yellow studios may disable the concentration of some, but those willing to persevere will find empowerment in the non-competitive, self-paced, self-monitored approach to the conscientious movement explorations. Insights gained on weight distribution give new meaning to the phrase "your better half," while the "no pain, gain" ideology underlying it all is undoubtedly responsible for bringing students back to this storefront space since February 2001.
