Seattle's Best Seafood. This was my first visit to Shuckers, and to the Seattle area for that matter! I am from the east coast, so I am a very experienced seafood eater- and, let me tell you, this was a wonderful place for fresh seafood. I was very pleased not only with my meal but also with the service. My server was extremely knowledgeabe and friendly!- very attentive to all my questions and quirks. The atmosphere was comfortable, big banquets with wood carvings throughout the place. There was also a patio outside where the locals gathered to meet for an after work happy hour or for a leisurely dinner. A very pleasant dinner overall (they also have lunch), wonderful staff, and beautiful atmosphere- All in all, I wouldn't return to Seattle without coming here!

What a dissapointment. Where to begin..waited ten minutes for a childs menu..waited another ten minutes for a bar drink..almost finished the drink when we recieved our bread..ordered ten minutes later..waited another ten/fifteen minutes for a childrens chicken nuggett meal (McDonald's put them to shame .. cold fries and $ 7.50 later)..recieved my meal and the seafood chowder was RI style (not mentioned on the menu) looking forward to a cream based chowder so they substituted clam....another ten minutes. Salad cam with dressing on it when asked for it on the side and not to mention that it was scarce on the avacodo and cucumber and egg...Aaaagggghhhh...manager came over to smooze us and did not really seem to care. After asking and explaining why we were not happy the time it took to eat a bowl of chowder and worse than McDonald's meal (now running on 1 hour 15 minutes) he took off the salad and chowder..THANKS so much, really...

Waitress was kind and really did not seem to have much control over this situation and she was tipped well. Soooo fifty four dollars later ($28.00 in two really good drinks) we left and will never go back.

Hopefully they will listen to this and try to do better for their sake...there are a lot of restaurants in Seattle that try harder and do well for themselves.

Shucker's the best!. The best seafood in town, the best service, and they love families.

simply stated: great service, great food: best halibut and chips!. We had walked by Shuckers a few times while staying at hotels nearby and never really considered it (maybe the name, and no enthusiasm for oysters?). July 4, our usual area targets were closed, so there we were. Never read a review, so no expectations.

We're really glad we went! We were seated promptly; the service was actually rather amazing - we never had to wait to ask questions or order, nor were we pestered by over-attentiveness. Perfect balance.

I had something I very rarely have: fish and chips. Four good-sized chunks of halibut in a wonderful, light batter; generous cuts of fresh potato, perfectly cooked. I waved one of the fries under my companion's nose: 'what do you smell?' - 'Potato!' The experience was perfectly cooked battered fish and potato, not oil (which I expect, and why I rarely order f&c).

They have a decent beer list with local microbrews - some organic - which was perfect with the above. I had the 'beer flight' (array of 3) and particularly liked the perfectly balanced and aromatic Manny's Pale Ale. Dessert was their version of strawberry shortcake: based on a very solid lemony cake, fresh strawberries, whipped cream and a scoop of house-made strawberry sorbet. Good finish to the main.

My companion has allergies and these were dealt with creatively and without condescension (always a treat when that happens!).

In fairness, this was July 4th evening, and the place was less than half full; but we would certainly go back to explore the other dishes.

Oysters. Nuff said. Their happy hour deal is a steal... great oysters and draft beers for a great price, and it's not busy at all! The bar staff is also extremely friendly and chatty. They did assume that we were from out of town, but I'll give them that, as they are in a hotel. Down to earth, helpful... just right
