Palmers East
A group of us have been to palmers a
few times now and have always had a good time, until one of us was more or less humiliated and insulted... For the record, I love the bartenders and the karaoke guys and we have never had any problems with any of the patrons, but sadly we will not be going here to sing on certain nights anymore due to the doormen who clearly have a bad superiority complex.
We had a group of 6, and all of us are family oriented 40+ year old people that came in to sing and relax and have good time at Palmers on a friday night and we even came prepared with a designated driver. Now none of us had anything to drink before we arrived at Palmers. When we did arrive, we had only been there just over an hour and all enjoyed a good meal and had 2 pitchers between the 5 of us who were drinking.
After we finished eating. One of us had stepped outside to smoke and then much to our surprise was not allowed back in by this rude doorman saying that our friend was to intoxicated to be admitted back in. (A full meal and 2 beers constitutes being over served?!) We all had to leave at that point since our friend was not allowed back in. We then went to another bar where the bartender there could clearly see that no one in our group was intoxicated and he said he has heard many similar complaints from other people about the doormen there.
I really do like and recommend Palmers and will be back, but with a clear conscience. I cannot recommend Palmers to anyone on the nights when these guys are working. If you want the best experience that you can get and not have to worry about being hassled at Palmers. Avoid Fridays and Saturdays! Nobody should be insulted by saying they are intoxicated when they clearly are not.
Perfect Neighborhood Joint!.
I agree Palmers East doesn't quite make it to "dive" status, though "interior design" and Palmers East don't fit in the same sentence.
I know what the other reviewer means about the loud crowd that was in the place when he went., but that sort of thing is the exception rather than the rule. Palmers East is a "real" bar with "real" patrons where "real life" goes on.
The food is bar food, but it's better than anyone has a right to expect.
The staff is too good to describe.
Fun "Dive" Bar. Fun place, great drinks, friendly staff, awesome customers.
Cheap Drinks and loud annoying people. This is an unpretentious place, but maybe not quite a "dive". There was a classless bunch of 20's women at the next table that made the joint seem low class. Seems to be a hangout for the 20's and early 30's scene. I was shocked when my tables whole tab was less than 12 dollars. I live in Bellevue and I'm used to 2 drinks exceeding that price, not 5 drinks! Despite the annoying patrons, I'll go back and sample the fare, because I'm a value hunter at heart. I have to praise the business for giving normal people a lot for the money.
