Great Pizza, great service. I don't allow myself my favorite food very often, but when I do, Wallingford Pizza House never disappoints. Their Chicago-style pizza is always hot, fresh, and never greasy. Service is always great too, even when they're really busy.
no depth. I once tried the basil & tomato deep dish and was disappointed. I love deep dish pizzas, and I so was happy to hear of a Seattle place offering them. BUT, although it looks like a deep dish (by which I mean a pizza with a thick and bread-y crust) , it's just a regular-crust pizza deep on the cheese. The bottom crust was about half a centimeter thick and the cheeses (which were good) three times that much. That's great if you want a pound or so of cheese--some people do, which is why I gave it a three star rating--but I won't ever get it again.
Yummy Pizza!!!.
When I want to treat myself, I go to Wallingford Pizza. The regular weekend (Friday/Saturday) waitstaff is very friendly, polite and attentive.
Aside from great pizza - the blue cheese dressing is out of this world.
Highly recommended.
Great! (But NOT chicago, ok?). Ok people, yes this pizza is VERY good. No complaints. HOWEVER - it is nowhere even comparable to Gino's East or Lou Malnatti's pizza in chicago. While this is nothing against WPH, I just want to make it clear that isn't even in the same realm as that delectible original deep dish crumbled sausage pizza from Chi-town. I lived in Chicago for two years and became addicted to that pizza. Everytime I go back it's such a treat to have. I haven't found anyplace like it in Seattle and that is just fine, because that is what makes communities special and unique.
Chicago-style pies draw crowds to this homey Wallingford pizzeria..
The Scene
In a converted house set back from busy 45th and nestled between the two buildings of the Guild 45th theater, this pizza joint feels like a comfortable family dining room. The casual atmosphere is enhanced by an eclectic mix of wooden tables, wooden wall siding, black-and-white photos of old Chicago and classics rock playing in the background. Servers are friendly, accommodating and not shy with recommendations.
The Food
This spot is famous for The Dome, a personal-sized pizza stuffed to the gills with fillings, baked in a bowl and dramatically inverted tableside. Most of the pizza varieties can be ordered in this style--try the flavorful Garlic Van Goat packed with mozzarella, goat cheese, red peppers, roasted garlic and artichoke hearts. Joe's Special, with the crust on top, is the Chicago-style version; others can be ordered deep dish or thin crust. Dessert features old-fashioned malts and milkshakes.
Awesome Deep Dish. We're from Chicago originally and have been looking for a deep dish pizza place that's at least half-way decent. This place went beyond our expectations! The pizza was just as good if not better than anything you'll find in Chicago. The dome is very cool too, very tasty as well. Go check this place out!
mmm.... Dome.... We were pleasantly surprised to find excellent Chicago-style pizza here in Seattle. Service was quite good, even though we came between shifts and had two different people wait on us (usually a diffcult transition, to say the least.) But, the best part was the Dome! Believe the hype - I'm just sad I can't have it delivered! Deelish.
One bad experience. Trying not to be too judgemental on one experience but compelled to detail the negatives: Went to WPH expecting great things, but instead received pizza that was burned on the bottom (mostly toward the center, but every piece had some burn on it). Tried to make the best of it, but after eating a couple pieces and examining the undersides of others, mentioned it to the waiter. Our efforts to be accomodating in the face of burned pizza resulted in a whopping $2 off the bill offering (total bill at this point roughly $40). Additionally, I brought my 2-yr old daughter to the restaurant and the staff offered her some crayons to play with. Turns out they also offered her some nice sharp tacks that were included with the crayons. Luckily none went in her mouth before we noticed them.
Not only great pizza but great pasta.... I have been eating here for several years, the pizza is great. I would put it on the same level as Uno's and Dou's in Chicago. The other night we decided to try their pasta expecting average pizza house pasta. Boy were we suprised I ordered the ravioli with a ragu sauce and my girlfriend order the fettucini alfredo. We have eaten at a number of places in Wallingford and I have to the pasta here is the best. The only thing is the cooks there are a little heavy with the garlic...which is great if you love garlic otherwise I would recommend asking for light garlic.
yum.... i just discovered wallingford pizza house a few weeks ago and have already been back a few times. the garlic van goat is so delicious! roasted garlic, artichoke hearts and add sauce- you won't be disappointed. you will have garlic breath for the rest of the night but it's worth it! friendly service, nice atmosphere, and great pizza!
