Sweet tooths line up for ice cream concoctions made on a granite slab..
In Short
Crowds of couples, teenagers and parents with toddlers press up against the long refrigerated display case at this dessert chain, where a variety of ice creams, frozen yogurts and sorbets are made in-store daily. Customers choose flavors like sweet cream, cake batter or banana, add mix-ins--ranging from candy bar chunks and Gummi bears to hot fudge and peanut butter--then servers mash it all together on a frozen slab of granite.
New way to enjoy ice cream. Heard about this place from several co-workers and I was skeptical at first, since to me, most ice cream joints tasted the same. I havent regreted it since the first time i walked in here. A new fangled way to eat ice cream, a large scoop of ice cream is placed on a marble slab, several mix-ins of various ingredients are added and tossed together and put into your choice of cone or cup. The different ice cream flavors are all quite tasty. The downside? Several of these a month is sure to add inches to your gut.
Wow! What fun!. How fun can it get?! My husband and 6-year-old daughter stumbled upon Cold Stone after having dinner next door at Red Robin (on Southcenter Parkway). What a treat to be greeted with such enthusiasm when we walked in the door. My daughter had a great time putting together her "creation" (as they call it). The singing, the smells, the great tasting ice cream (which they say they make in the store everyday), really makes this a perfect family place. My only complaint: Prepare to wait on a Saturday night. Although they were well-staffed, the process can take a little time.
FINALLY here!. Thank goodness the folks at Cold Stone finally came South! If you haven't tried this, you're missing out on some of the best ice cream that money can buy. Great fun for everyone, lively crew (who'll belt out a tune when you tip them), a myriad of "mix-ins", and they churn it all together on a granite slab. The place smells like heaven (brownies & waffle cones). Well-run and clean, this is great place to take out-of-towners or the family on a Saturday night (but go during the week when you won't have to wait too long!). My suggestion? Go for the Mud Pie...Coffee ice cream, oreos, peanut butter, roasted almonds & whipped cream...YUM!
Try it!. This is some of the most amazing ice cream. And it's fun! If you tip them $1, they will all sing a song for you. You pick your flavor of ice cream, which is made by them, and then start picking toppings to mix in. It's fun and addictive!
