Editorial Review for Seattle Center Monorail – by Andrea Burtness
In Short
Forget about zero to 60, how about a mile in 60 (really 90 seconds, but who's counting)? This 1960s technology is still up to speed and the elevated train remains the best way to get from downtown Seattle's shopping district to the Seattle Center. Get on the train and before anyone can say "look, ma, there's the Space Needle," riders will be traveling through the EMP and into Seattle Center or the third floor of Westlake Center.

Insider Tips
Know Before You GoThe monorail is not a part of Metro and Metro passes are not accepted. However, a monthly pass good for unlimited use is available for $40.
The ExtrasThe monorail arrives about every 10 minutes to transport people to and from the Seattle Center, so there's never a long wait.
Fun FactSeattle commissioned the Monorail for the 1962 World's Fair to ensure ease of transportation to the event's location. It proved such a useful commodity that the city kept it around and to this day, Seattle's system is the only monorail that turns a profit.
