It doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside you'll find friendly faces behind the sushi counter and delivering your hot sake. Take a look at the walls of the entryway, as there are pictures of their creative house rolls posted there. All the ones I've tried from this collage have been very tasty. Feel free to stop by with your non-fish-eating friends, the spicy chicken yakisoba is super tasty and they have some non-fish rolls (though i'm not sure I trust a non-fish sushi roll). The fish is fresh and tasty and we are always surprised when, after ordering far too much to eat, the bill is far less than expected.
Good sushi at a small amount. When you a hear a deal like 24 piece sushi for only 6.99 you totally take the initiative and try it out. However when I did i found out that these 24 pieces of tiny sushi's could be clumped together and made into 12 pieces of regular sized sushi. Other than the size the sushi was fresh and delicious. Just know that when something looks too good to be true it probably is.
Great for people new to Sushi!. I'm fairly new to sushi, but I am very picky and I know what tastes good. Bento Sushi (in the Crown Hill Neighborhood, Ballard) has a great selection of sushi that isn't made of just fish. The Philly Roll (Cream Cheese filled) and Spicy Crispy Chicken Roll, and Chicken or Beef Teriyaki roll are just some examples of the choices available to you. The 16 piece, 6.95 special is also a good bargain. This place is almost always busy, so you may have to wait for a seat, but I think that it is very much worth it.
Restaurant Has Gone Downhill. We've lived in Ballard for 3 years and have enjoyed Bentos many times. However, now that it has been sold to new owners (within the past 6 months) it is no longer a good choice for Sushi. We gave it another try last week, and it was our last. The fish was not fresh, the rolls fell apart and the food presentation was very amateurish. Very unfortunate!
Our favorate place to have lunch. Location is convient, food is consistant, very tasty spicy rolls!! Ask about the sushi roll specials. This is our first choice to have lunch when we have the day off together. The lady that I assume is the owner is always friendly.
Great for a late-evening craving!. Bento Sushi is filed away in my "too-tired-to-cook-and-need-a-break" category of restaurants. Consistent, affordable, and cozy in its own way, this place satiates the sushi craving without causing a negative balance in my wallet. The service is very gracious, even when we've arrived close to 9pm. Be sure to ask about the special rolls, as your server just might have a small paper menu in their apron, with some unpublicized deals.
