Do not buy a used car from this dealership
by andrewhparker at Citysearch
I bought a 2001 Dodge Dakota from Harris Ford about 6 months ago.
After ensuring me that all their used cars go through extensive safety tests, I later discovered my car was extremely unsafe to drive.
After ensuring me the car had a clear history, I later discovered the car had been in a serious accident.
Harris Ford has no regard for your safety and will let you drive away in a death trap. Do not trust your family and friends to this company.
Let me explain:
One week after I purchased the car I was driving along the highway when a truck pulled in front of me. I attempted to sound my horn to alert the driver of my presence. To my suprise the horn did not work and I had to take evasive action to avoid a collision. A horn is one of the most important safety features of a car and clearly shows that a safety inspection was not performed on my vehicle by Harris Ford.
Harris Ford agreed to fix the problem.
When they disassembled the steering column they discovered the airbag did not work. A light was always on in the display but I thought it was a faulty 'seatbelt disconnected' indicator. Turns out, that light is the 'air-bag is not working' light. Further proof a safety inspection was not completed.
Harris Ford agreed to fix the airbag.
Finally, when I was cleaning out my car yesterday I found an old service invoice from the previous owner. The invoice included a report that clearly stated that the mechanic believed the car had been in a serious accient where the airbag had been deployed and there was damage throughout the vehicle and in particular, to the seatbelts.
Harris Ford had showed me something similar to a Carfax but it showed nothing of my vehicle being in an accident.
Had any type of inspection been completed by Harris Ford it would have shown that my car was unsafe to drive.
Harris Ford risked my life for a few extra bucks. Do not make the same mistake I did.
