It is normally hard to pry me away from my Thai standby - phad kee mao - but the curries at Buddha Ruksa can usually make a compelling case.
Fabulous Thai food!. Always consistent. When calling in an order on our way home from work, they are accurate in letting us know the timing of when our take out order will be ready. They run a tight very busy take-out service that seems to work like clockwork. Whether it be sitting in for lunch or dinner or take-out, I've never been disappointed. My husband loves the Forest Curry & I'm a Curried Rice & Larb Gai fan!
GONE WAY DOWN HILL. We used to always order the crab fried rice to go. The last 3 times we ordered it, we'd get all the way home and there'd be NO CRAB in the rice at all - and hello, at $15 it ain't cheap. When this first happened I let it pass, the second time, I called to ask them why they gave us FIFTEEN DOLLARS worth of rice with no crab in it. It litterally had about 1 teaspoon in it, when it used to have easily 1/2 cup. The woman on the phone haggled with me and said she'd give us a credit for another one later, but it would have the same amount of crab in it as the one we had gotten which was nil. Sure enough the next time we got it, it had nothing in it. I feel like when you get take out at places they take advantage of the fact that you're going to be all the way home before you open the tied bags and find your surprise that you've been taken for a ride and charged exhorbedent prices for a bowl of rice with nothing in it. And then they have the audacity to give you attitude and tell you next time you'll also get no meat in your food. If you pay attention since the economy tanked you're getting less and less meat in your asian food dishes. Well, we aren't going for this behaviour at all, and I'm not afraid to let everyone else know the bad treatment you get. So, no more money from us RUKSA. you screwed yourself.
Get the Crispy Garlic Chicken!. The Crispy Garlic Chicken is amazing. We had a party of 9 or so and ordered 4 or 5 of these and I could haven eaten two of them by myself. I couldn't get enough of it. So good. I don't usually feel that way about chicken. Chocolate, maybe. But chicken! I'm salivating just writing this.
Consistently good Thai and good friendly service. Definately the place to take visiting from out of town- that love Thai food. We love the Crispy Garlic Chicken two star! I also like the Black Bean beef with a few added ingredients( Broccoli and tomatoes) try it it's awesome. Quick take out for the times you don't feel like eating in. I think Buddha Ruksa is the best for the $ and Thai experience. We are lucky we live so close.
Delicious, Cool Place, Ample Parking on Street. The food here is really good and so is the service. It is a small place, but it is well decorated and well laid-out. I tried the Garlic Chicken everyone talks about. It is extremly good. It is stir fried grilled chicken, as opposed to deep fried chicken. I prefer this because it is healthier and less greasy, but also because it has a better flavor (in my opinion). The crispyness comes from the garlic being blackened onto the chicken. It's fantastic. I will be returning to try some of the other entrees.
Best Thai food I have ever had. I wasn't a big fan of the crispy garlic chicken until I ordered it spicy. WOW, what a difference. Eveything I have ordered on the menu is great but, I really love the monthly specials. It keeps me coming back. Look for the lettuce wraps - yum! They also have the biggest wine menu I have ever seen for a Thai place.
Best Thai Food in all of Seattle.
My wife and I went to Buddha Ruksa for the first time and it won't be the last !!! We have tried the rest, but Buddha Ruksa is the best !!! We have been looking for the best Thai restaurant in West Seattle and finally found it. We were there on a Saturday night at about 7pm, and it was very busy. It only took us about a half an hour to get our table. They do a lot of take out.
We started off with soup, Tom Kha, which was the best we've ever had. Then for the main entre's we had Crispy Garlic Chicken and Chicken Phai Thai which were both out of this world. The Crispy Garlic Chicken, you will never find anything like it but there. The Phai Thai wasn't gooey or too dry, just right.
We have been to other Asian restaurants in West Seattle, and now it will be hard to go to any of them since we have now found the best.
So, make the trip over here to West Seattle and it's just over the West Seattle Bridge.
Consistently Good.
I really like the way the dining room here is decorated. The food really is the main thing, though. I recommend the crispy garlic chicken (who doesn't!) and also a dish called seven flavored fish (I think). It's an amazing sweet and sour type sauce. Mouth watering! Also, the appetizer called pots of gold, because the crab inside is spicy and creamy! Another of my favorites is the fried eggplant. They use Thai eggplant which is milder and smaller. I get it with pork and it's just so rich and delicious with tons of garlic.
Also, regarding the service, I was here once with a group of about 8 people and the service was just outstanding. We got everything we ordered exactly as we ordered it, including various drinks, aps, dinners and it all came out quickly and hot. The servers bent over backward to make sure we were taken care of, and had a great sense of humor. They made us feel very welcome even though we were a big group on a busy Friday evening.
Editorial Review. Large portions, authentic flavors and a family-friendly atmosphere make this West Seattle Thai restuarant a local favorite.
It's Unanimous - this place is great !. This is my favorite Thai in Seattle, and isn't there one on every corner? The decor is a little more upscale than your average Thai restaurant. The menu is pretty extensive and varied with lots of the usual (love their pad thai) and a few things I haven't seen elsewhere. The prices are reasonable and they even have a decent wine selection (i.e. not just Beringer). The staff has always been very friendly, helpful and easy to communicate with (sorry, but sometimes that's an issue!). Try the Crispy Garlic Chicken or the Prawn & Pumpkin Red Curry - yummy, yummy. It is small and intimate, maybe not the best for children and big parties, though I think they have a separate room for larger groups. It's usually pretty busy but I've never waited too long for either a table or take-out, (then again what's wrong with a nice thai beer while you wait). Everyone acts like West Seattle is so out-of-the-way, but this is right off the west seattle bridge with easy parking. Come on over, you won't be disappointed!
