All manners of sushi are available, such as California roll and spicy tuna roll, as well as more adventurous fare like sea cucumber, sea snail in its shell, or kelp-cured scallops. Hot sake always helps it go down.

Live music (guitar solo) is featured every Sunday from 6:30pm to 8:30pm featuring Klaus Lendzian.

The Scene
Wallingford families with sushi-munching kids sit next to well-heeled Japanese patrons at this welcoming Japanese restaurant in Tangletown. The decor is casually bright, modern and clearly Ikea-inspired. Patrons can sit at the U-shaped sushi bar or snag a table and watch the action as the sushi chef slices, dices and makes short, elegant work of his raw materials.
The Food
True to its neighborhood spirit, this spot offers a healthy mix of Japanese standards, buttery sashimi combos and inventive sushi rolls. Start with the creamy agedashi tofu or th sauteed mushroom salad with a tangy miso dressing. The caterpillar roll, complete with eel "legs" and sizeable chunks of avocado, will satisfy kids and grownups alike, while the Green Lake Roll keeps neighborhood pride, with salmon, fish roe, asparagus, avocado and topped with slimy marinated seaweed. Sashimi can be ordered a la carte or in a number of combinations.

Kisaku is amazing. I've gone at least once a week since it opened. I highly recommend sitting at the sushi bar. Nakano-san and Shimi always come up with really creative things, and all the food is always amazing. Take a minute to ask what's fresh, what's in season, and what you just absolutely must try. Definitely take their suggestions and be adventurous. Oysters on half shells are a must to begin the meal, and if Aji Tataki is up on the specials board, you're in for a treat. In terms of cooked food, the tofu dengaku (fried tofu in red miso sauce) is sublime, and they the best calamari I have ever had in the country, no joke. Also, either make reservations or come at less crowded times (it's easier to get in earlier, especially on week days).

Kisaku is one of my favorite Japanese restaurants in the Seattle area for sushi. Although they are a little bit on the pricey side, the food is definitely high quality. I would recomment making reservations.

I have been to Kisaku a few times now and every experience is different. There is always a great variety of fresh seafood and the servers are very knowledgeable about the menu. I was a bit of a novice on my first visit and I was directed towards a few simple rolls that I really enjoyed. Be careful because it can get busy at times!
