Fremont yoga and pilates.

by n9840153 , Citysearch Contributor at Citysearch

This yoga studio is hidden in the heart of fremont with only street parking available. Its located in a building on the third floor which requires either stairs or an elevator. Not greatly labeled and may be difficult to find if you are in a hurry. I remember there being a sandwhich board sign in the past, but didn't see it when I was actually trying to find it, thankfully I knew the general location. Studio is big and has both yoga and pilates which makes it a little nicer than some other yoga studios where you don't have any other options. Drop in classes or series are offered. Drop in classes for people without pilates experience are not recommended. Studio provides a look out onto the street, but traffic sounds can be distracting. Instructors are nice, lots of class times available.

  • Pros: yoga and pilates
  • Cons: hard to find, no parking

Maya has two beautiful studios in the same building. Both the Yoga and Pilates instruction are wonderful! Now they even offer kids classes!

Great yoga, when the instructors don't send subs

by dineronadime at Citysearch

The is a breathtaking studio with many talented teachers.

To cut to the chase:

PROS: an abundance of natural light and nature around the studio, great instructors, student discounts,

CONS: no yoga before work (why start morning classes at 10am?!), instructors too often send subs, a snail-paced the credit card system often leads to pre-class gridlock

Overall a great place with good instructors.

ADDENDUM Sept. 2009:

The credit card issues seem largely solved and the studio is so lovely and warm. They also have reasonable 2-month or student passes. However I maintain they need a webmaster to help you understand when a sub is coming or like this week when they are on a summer break schedule. Other studios are able to do this and it can be a huge disappointment to show up for a class that is cancelled or for an instructor who has a sub. With a better handle of their website, I think they would be close to perfect. Overall do not overlook this studio, especially if you like "Flow" forms of yoga and instructors who know their stuff and want to assist!

  • Pros: instructors, studio has so much beauty, classes are appropriately paced and skilled
  • Cons: too many subs, no early am classes, a slow credit card system

Loved the folks at Maya

by stevie37 at Citysearch

I started to do pilates at Maya and found a whole new attitude toward my body and began to see a difference within weeks. After doing pilates for a month or so I began yoga classes there. I was nervous because I'd done yoga for years and I'm very picky about my teachers, but I was extremely impressed by every teacher I had and now am an avid student at Maya. I highly recommend this studio to anyone.

Not the best place for yoga

by slyflygirl at Citysearch

I have heard alot about Maya and one day decided to try yoga there to see if I wanted to purchase a membership. Needless to say I was truly unsatisfied and disappointed with the service, staff and class. There classes are the most expensive I've come across than all other yoga studios and that didn't include the tax they added. The class began earlier than it was scheduled and ended ten minutes earlier. It wasn't a full length of a class! The instuctor was more into herself and did not pay quality attention to her students. Therefore, it made for an uncomfortable atmosphere. It was quite difficult to jump into the class. I really don't see what the fuss over Maya is about. I would never go back there again for yoga.
