Tips for Tokyo Japanese Steakhouse

September 08, 2012

Mom left town so my 3 sons and I headed out for Hibachi! We enjoyed our meal very much. Our chef was Rienster and he is the new head chef being there about a month. Rienster is a top notch hibachi chef and his experience really shows in his hibachi skills and cooking. The best thing is the food was really prepared well and tasty. 3 out of 4 of us ended up with take home boxes as the portions are good sized and the combinations are a lot of food. Highly recommended. Marco Brier, WA

Terrible Food. My husband and I ate at The Tokyo Japanese Steak House due to the good reviews, but we were extremely disappointed. My husband ordered steak& shrimp and I ordered chicken & shrimp. The meat quality was really bad, the shrimp tasted like mushy plastic that had been frozen for a million years. It did not taste like shrimp at all. The sauce served with the meal tasted disgusting. We could not finish the food and ended up paying almost $50. The only good thing was the show; the guy who cooked the food was friendly and good on the grill. We will never go back there again and would not recommend anyone else go there either.

Disappointing. Our daughter selected this restaurant for her birthday dinner based on the recommendation of a co-worker. We had a 6:30 pm reservation and were promptly seated, but by 7:10 pm we were on our way out the door. We ordered drinks as soon as we were seated. Shortly after that, we were served our soup and our salad, both at the same time. Simultaneously, our chef started stir frying our vegetables at our table. We felt like we were being rushed. Our drinks were then served! We'd expected them before they started serving food. Before we could finish our soup and salad, the chef was putting our vegetables on our plates and was cooking our meat. In the meantime, we're trying to gulp down our drinks. It was very, very noisy, no background music or anything to try to deaden the sound. Our daughter was extremely disappointed in the whole experience. We told two different employees that it was her birthday, and they assured us they'd recognize that, but nothing was done. And we ended up with upset stomachs from eating too fast. We'll never go there again or recommend it to others.

Excellent and a lot of fun. That is our "Birthday" restaurant, we go there for all our Birthdays, because it is a lot of fun and great for groups of 8.

You have to decide that you are going to have fun and not think about what the next table thinks of you.

The food is delicious and you are seatted as soon as you come in. I suggest you get different plates per person and share it with your group. What we usually do is each one of us order a different plate and then we tell the cook that we will be sharing it, so you get to try the lobster even if order the steak :-)

It is very good for families especially good for kids that do not get scare with big flames.

It is the best place to go and have fun with good food. I will recommend it to anybody.

a nice change....decent food. this can be fun and exciting becuase the food is made right in front of you. however, just be sure your meal isn't 70% onions...and little meat.....kinda pricey for what you get...but it is more of an experience

Entertaining Restaurant. If you are looking for a fun food experience, this is the place. It's a bit expensive. Children might be scared of flames from chef tricks. You sit at a circular table, sometimes with strangers if you don't have enough in your party to fill the table, and watch your food being prepared in an entertaining manner (I loved the onion ring volcano!). The manager wasn't all that friendly, but the guys preparing your meal are a hoot! If you have a big group I would get reservations. It's somewhat kid friendly. If your kids don't like vegis they might be unhappy (make them eat their vegis!!!) because you get a lot of those babies! Then, hit up the coffee shop near by for music and coffee.
