Editorial Review for Glassybaby – by Anna Roth
In Short
The sunny, color-neutral, Roy McMakin-designed showroom provides a perfect backdrop to the vivid brightness of these popular blown-glass votive holders--spotted everywhere from black tie events to down-home dinner parties. Customers can peer through windows in the back of the store into the studio to watch glassblowers at work, or test out colors in a black box that simulates nighttime. The seasonally changing color palette might include hues like sea foam, begonia and blue bird.

I accidentally stumbled upon Glassybaby while jogging around Green Lake. Behind the modest little storefront is a funky glass blowing studio producing candle votives in a dazzling array of colors. You can watch the glass blowers at work while browsing through GB's latest color palette which includes fun names like "Wet Dog (a warm brown color), Seattle Sunset and Ferarri Red. I came back the next day and purchased three for my fireplace mantel. They're amazing when lit, producing a warm translucent glow. I highly recommend Glassybaby for those who want to shop off the beaten path.
