The Scene
This two-story bar and restaurant is a winner. Warm, orange tropical tones and artful decorations open up the otherwise small space, which may initially feel cramped if you're used to bigger bar settings. Casuelita's sets out to make customers feel at home, and the ethnically diverse, professionally-attired patrons love lingering for that reason.
The Draw
Downstairs, patrons either sit at the bar, window seats or at round, glass covered wicker tables. Food here is exotic, hearty and designed to go along with rum drinks, which range from the clean, unadulterated taste of the Pineapple Rum Spritzer to the rich combo of the Bushwhacker, which consists of dark and coconut rum mixed with chocolate liquer, Kahlua, Bailey's and nutmeg. Even lighter appetites will want to try out appetizers like the decadent deep-fried pepper potato cakes.

I LOVE this place. It is my favorite bar in Belltown. I have been going here for many years for happy hour. The owners are wonderful as is the entire staff. They pour a stiff drink, which is something I really like, and the food is good. The food can be a bit inconsistent in that I rarely get it prepared the same exact way twice, but it is kind of fun to be surprised :) The bar area downstairs gets REALLY crowded, so get there early (Happy Hour starts at 4:00 PM). They used to allow drinking folks to sit upstairs, but no longer allow that, which stinks in that it gets so damn crowded in the bar!!! I hate to wait for my first drink during happy hour and I never have to worry about that at Casuelita's, as when the bartenders see me coming down the block, they have my drink waiting by the time I walk in the door. Service just doesn't get better than that. I just have to be careful not to walk past them if I am going somewhere else :)

Awesome food , large portion sizes , great presentation , fabulous Rum bar , make reservations. That being said , I was looking for a place that was within my budget. And this place fit the bill! The first time I went I was overwhelmed by the amount of food you get for the price. The waiters/waitresses were attentive without being obnoxious. I go there quite often with friends and on dates. It's a great place to have dinner before heading over to Jazz Alley. I have only had one bad experience where the wait staff were virtually none existant. That evening just to get a drink we had to practically get out of our seats to ask for one. And the place was not busy....so go figure. I do recommend reservations on Friday or Saturday night if you are going to be having dinner. And the Rum bar is small and gets packed fairly early , so be prepared for standing room only. Needless to say it's one of my favorite places in Belltown.
