What Our Expert Scouts Say

Sip & Ship
November 29, 2012

This is possibly the best place ever! just hand them your package and they tape it up and ship it for you. Holiday cards? hand them over and they will stamp them all and mail them. Rarely do you need to wait more than a minute to be helped and you can do a bit of shopping for cute Ballard merchandise and sip a well made latte at the same time. So glad they are in my hood!

My Absolute Favorite One-Stop-Shop in Seattle!. Usually, with kids in tow, I always get great service at the Sip & Ship. The owners have kids, so they totally get the value of time and make it easy to come in with something to ship. They pack it up for me (often gift wrap it too) and ship it off cost effectively (US Mail or UPS/FedEx Ground) or sometimes it's got to get there so they can do faster services too! While the shipping side is getting me sorted out, the sipping side steams up a delicious latte for me while my kids happily play upstairs in the Sip & Ship's kid-friendly loft area (it has a baby gate - so little people can freely explore books and toys and are kept safe). I often bring my laptop and check emails at the counter and before I know it, the Sip & Ship has come through again - - we're done and we're sad to go - usually due to a nap time or other errand on our list! Thanks Sip & Ship, you guys are the best!

Best last minute hostess gifts. There’s no better place to pick up thoughtful last minute hostess gifts, can’t-find-elsewhere cards for any occasion and gift-wrapping essentials, like Moleskine notebooks, Sweet Petula bath products, and Ballard logoed sweatshirts, bags and tees. Fuel your local errands with a cup of Fair Trade coffee, plus ship all your packages without ever having to step foot in the pesky post office lines. My fave go to hostess gift: Handmade letterpress everyday or thank you cards from hip Portland greeting card designer, Egg Press. Priced for impromptu giving – individual cards start at $4.50; boxed sets of six start at $14.

Bad customer service at Ballard Sip & Ship... From The Owner!!!. I was absolutely thrilled to see Ballard Sip & Ship was open at 6:30 pm one Saturday after finding out the neighboring FedEx Kinkos was closed. I needed to print an assignment for class the following Monday. I was greeted by a young smiling guy who informed me that they do print!

Then an older guy, not so smiley said "Oh from your email? We can't do that" after Mr. Smiley asked Mr. Grumpy if I could email it to them from my laptop I was up and running.

I sent the email, and looked around the cute shop while I waited. I asked Mr. Grumpy who seemed to be the owner how much it was to print per page, he said $0.25/ page. I was okay with that so I continued to wait.

He finished printing them and handed all 40 pages to me. He said there wasn't a page counter (he didn't want to count them) and estimated it to be 41, he was only off by one.

But then I looked at my document and the printer had mangled the tops of the pages, creating a little fold in the middle of each sheet. I showed the problem to Mr. Grumpy explaining that I had to turn them in. He said well I didn't know you had to turn them in... the printer does that sometimes. You will just have to get it photo copied somewhere, you might try Kinkos.

I left and in the car noticed my receipt also had an extra $2 charge for "packing materials" which I didn't purchase.

If customer service and accurate pricing is important to you DONT GO to Ballard Sip & Ship.

Great quiche, cinnamon rolls. Wonderful staff and gift ideas.. I'll start with food. The quiche is fantastic and the cinnamon rolls are even better. I had the capuccino and loved it.

The gift ideas are what I liked most. They carry high-quality gifts from Scandanavia and Germany, and also humorous magnets and cards. You can get BALLARD t-shirts and sweatshirts from 6 mos (onesies) to XXL. And of course you can ship things out right there in the store.

The staff is one of the most friendly I've encountered.

Editorial Review. Mail services center doubles as coffee house, combining overnight shipping and mail collection with lattes and pastries.

love the quiche. Everytime I have some mailing projects to do I go here. Not only can you get all your mailing needs met but can have a great luch at the same time. The quiche is outstanding. Full of great flavors.
