Editorial Review for Brite Bar – by Janet Tzou
The Scene
Tenth Avenue has rapidly morphed into a playground for affluent 20-somethings. Opting for a more relaxed, mature atmosphere, John Libonati and Chris Schutte remodeled a former historic hotel and created a sleek conduit for that most noble nighttime cause: meeting fellow New Yorkers. Long rectangular leather couches encourage friendly mingling, while twinkling Lite-Brite games and huge plastic-covered chandeliers offer easy conversation pieces in the comfortable space.
The Draw
Brite Bar has earned a steady following for its unusual ZYGO energy vodka cocktails, which also help support a local West Village distillery. You're likely to see a late 20s- to early 30s-crowd sipping the bar's signature Fother Mucker drink, which packs a sweeter punch than its Red Bull/vodka cousin. Overall, a much more inviting, but still chic alternative, to the trendier Bungalow 8 around the corner.

Insider Tips
Where to SitSit in the back of the bar, where two full-sized Lite-Brites (and free paper and colored bulbs) are offered gratis. You'll also see travel-sized Lite-Brites floating around the bar counter.

I went to Brite Bar this past Saturday and had a great time this was my third time at Brite. The music was fun and the drinks were strong. I had one of their house drinks then my usual Ketel and Soda. The bar staff was having a great time behind the bar which made the customers feel like they were part of the fun and some were. I was given an advert for an entertainer they have on Sundays and decided to go. OMG! What a blast. This performer Candis Cayne was 1. Gorgeous and 2. Hysterical and can dance. She ran into 10th ave and climbed onto cabs and sang and even engaged the police that watched her show from their van parked out front. I cant wait to go back.
Pros: Good drinks, Friendly Staff, Fun Atmosphere
Cons: The crowds on 10th Av, Marque/people sometim, Can be loud

All I have to say about this place is that I asked the bartender for a glass of water, and she told me she was too busy and not right now. I was having an allergy attack and needed water, waited 15 minutes while she ignored me, and ended up having to go to the manager to get a glass of water. I guess they don't care about service at this bar or if their customers are having a good time. I'm an event planner for a major firm, and I will never go back and will let everyone I know about my lovely evening there.
