Gail reviewed Sony 13.3" VAIO Laptop - 6GB Memory - 504GB Hard Drive - Silver at Best Buy and gave it 1 out of 5 stars.

I purchased this laptop in November of 2011. I was initially impressed with this machine's sleek design, speed and ability to play music wirelessly to my entertainment center. After a short time I noticed that the computer started to crash each time after it woke from sleep. As this problem started after the two-week Best Buy return period, I pursued the issue through Sony's manufacturers warranty (I have since been told by the manager of the Geek Squad - Bellevue that this was the proper channel).

As of March 1, the computer is back at Sony's repair facility for a second time after having already been serviced in February. During the first repair the motherboard and docking station were replaced. I have yet to hear what Sony plans to attempt during repair number two as repair number one did not resolve the issue. After reading reviews from other people who also purchased this computer, I decided to pursue returning the unit completely to Best Buy. I have been told by the Manager of the Geek Squad Department - Bellevue that my options are:

a) Trade the computer in for a new machine, knowing that I will likely only receive up to half of the purchase price of nearly $1,000.

b) Bring the computer in so that his team can run a diagnostic and send that information to Sony. (Seems pointless as Sony has already run those tests themselves and determined hardware issues. Also, Best Buy can only address software, not hardware issues.)

I previously thought decently of Best Buy, but am beyond frustrated after being told that nothing can be done to remedy a situation where a customer bought a brand-new $1,000 laptop and after only a few months it stopped being fully functional. And really, it doesn't matter if it was a $500 laptop, when you purchase something new from a store if should last longer than a few months.

Bottom line, don't waste your time or money on this Sony Vaio laptop or Best Buy.

BUYER BEWARE, PROJECTION TV HASTLE. Buyer beware, dont purchase projection TV. I wish Best Buy would have protected us as a loyal customer. Every 12 months the bulb on the TV burns out. After some research, this is the scam that the industry has planned for us, reliable tv with a cost of $200-$300 per year. Warranty only covers 1st bulb, sure you can spend more of your hard earned dallors and get an extended warranty, but they only cover the bulb for 90 days. hmmm guess they know the bulbs burn out quickly. Just another fine example of how to steel the consumers hard earned money. Shame on you best buy for not warning us of this hassle and cost. Oh I almost forgot, the bulb has burnt out twice, once every 12 months, and on a weekend when we cannot get a replacment. so we are screwed and cant watch TV for the weekend. $2100 for a TV, cant watch for a week until we get a bulb. Life is not getting better, these manufacterers and companies are getting greedier.

Avoid At ALL Costs. It seems that the jobs always half-done. My computer crashed on 9/27...it's now 11/25 and I'm still dealing with the company.

If they don't know an answer, they'll make one up...

(ie- Customer Service(CS): Oh yes...that part was delivered today.

Me: No, actually I just checked with my apartment 30 minutes ago. It hasn't arrived.

CS: OhI guess it was returned to us; the lady who filled out your work-order messed up your address)

I suppose making up the first answer seemed like the right thing to do at the time?

All I can say is that trying to get something taken care of, especially when its something covered under your service plan. is extremely difficult. Whether its under-trained employees or that they simply dont care, Im unsure. But regardless, the headache youll get from this company isnt worth the $10 you might save on your product.
