Tips for Cold Stone Creamery

Sweet tooths line up for ice cream concoctions made on a granite slab.. In Short
Crowds of couples, teenagers and parents with toddlers press up against the long refrigerated display case at this dessert chain, where a variety of ice creams, frozen yogurts and sorbets are made in-store daily. Customers choose flavors like sweet cream, cake batter or banana, add mix-ins--ranging from candy bar chunks and Gummi bears to hot fudge and peanut butter--then servers mash it all together on a frozen slab of granite.

Glorified Baskin-Robbins for suburbanites. I like to eat ice cream because it's a comfort food. I realize the huge amount of calories and fat contained in each spoonful, but I don't care, I just want to be happy and indulge myself. I'm sure most people can agree. Aside from a product, there should come the service which I can justify paying a premium for.

At Cold Stone, you choose one of many mediocre ice creams and optional mix-ins for some inept person to soften up on a marble block with dough scrappers. The people who work there can at least be a little helpful and smile.

I would have had better luck if I went to the Fred Meyer next door, bought some of the ice cream that comes in a square-box, you know the kind with a name like "Sparkle" or "Presidents Choice", and chopped it at home myself on a pizza stone.

This place also makes me sick because most of the clientele are the types who live in cookie cutter homes and wears Banana Republic.

If you want a better experience I suggest you try another place with way better ice cream and staff with personality and charm, like Gelatiamo, its worth the commute, or you do what I mentioned earlier, and go do it yourself.

Same Great Ice Cream.. Lacking in Show. Of course it's good.. it's Coldstone! However, crew here needs a shot of enthusiasm. We've met some good kids there.. but from personal experience (because I used to work at a Coldstone) they need to WANT to sing. Hey! That's why we tip em right?? Give us a show people!
