Great Chowder.
This place is all about the chowder (I had the 'award winning' New England style), although I've heard they have good Dungeness crab sandwiches too. If you're looking for lunch around Pike's Market this is a great spot. It is true that it is a little expensive, but so is pretty much everything else in the area. It can get a little bit crowded on nice days when there are a lot of people at the market. It is also nice that they have free bread and crackers to go with the soup.

Very tastey soup.
I like Pike Place's clam chowder...it was hot and definately fresh chowder...it didn't taste too clammy. I also really like their curried chicken salad..very crisp and unique tasting. Their sourdough was also good.

Award-winning chowder comes eight ways at this small Pike Place lunch joint..
In Short
Shoppers sit at small tables on bright chairs in this sunny, crowded space in Post Alley. The menu's focus is its sinfully creamy chowder: the original New England is an award-winning velvety delight; the pink-hued salmon variety nicely negates the strong salmon flavor. Manhattan and clear variations are available for those not in a creamy mood, and there are also salad and sandwich options. Free hunks of sourdough are provided for dunking purposes.

Best Chowder in the Northwest.
This is the best chowder I've ever had. Being from Oregon, that's hard to swallow. I thought I had tasted the best at Mo's down here, but Pike Place is actually better. I recommend stopping by. I know I will.
