In Short
Chef Jerry Brahm (formerly of the Bistro on 24th) took over this austere, elegant space in the summer of 2003. Appropriately, the atmosphere is hushed and turn-of-the-century traditional; chamber music lilts through the antique-filled dining room and the straight-forward American menu attracts a more mature crowd. The wine list is diverse and classic entrees include crab cakes and pork tenderloin.

We loved the outside of Carnegie's and just had to see the inside! The great news is that the restaurant lives up to the amazing architecture on the inside as well as the outside. We tried the Prix Fixe menu; we started with the French onion soup and the tossed field greens. The soup had a great, hearty flavor and I savored it to the last spoonful. The salad was nicely dressed and tasted fresh and clean. Next, we had the Coq au Vin and the duck confit...both were perfectly prepared and definitely noteworthy. We finished with dessert (can't recall what we had) and wrapped up our evening. All in all, it was a great experience and we'll be back!

Really Fine restaurant in the old Carnegie library. Authentic period furnishings and yet a wonderful casual atmosphere. There are two different prix fix menus and the food is fantastic.

The four of us splurged and ordered an array of appertizers, entrees, and desserts. The onion gruyere soup was to die for. The calamari was tasty, and the smoked salmon with a potato cake was most excellent. The entree swere quite tasty and reasonable compared to Le Gourmand and others in the area., although the wines were a little pricey. I had the seafood marvarin which was well seasoned and had ample amounts of salmon, shrimp, and other seafood favorites. The restaurant itself is quaint, and we loved the period lighting and other touches that honored the historical charm of this landmark building. Our only disappointment was the elaborate fake flower arrangement which seemed out of place in this otherwise classy setting. Fresh flowers would bring the room up to par with the food--really!
