Dated clothes, rude service. My experience at Designer Labels was very similar to the last reviewer. The owner does have a reputation for being rude. She would not consign a brand new pair of Steve Madden shoes (purchased 4 months ago)

although the shoes she had for sale were mostly very old and totally ugly. Some of the clothes may be designer but are very very dated.

Designer Labels in West Seattle!. Designer Labels is one of those rare shops where you go not only to shop for one-of-a-kind items, but to catch up on the neighborhood news and spend some time with Camille, the store's proprietor. On any given day, she'll be in the store with one or two neighborhood dogs (there's a stash of toys and treats under the sofa) while their moms (and dads) shop and chat. It's West Seattle's best-kept secret.

poor customer service. I am pretty new at writing reviews, and this store is the reason I started. I love shopping in my neighborhood, because of the unique items and friendly atmosphere. Upon entering this store, I was looked at, but not greeted until I ended up saying hello myself. Kind of unusual I thought, after all this is sunny West Seattle, not L.A. Anyway, I initially came in looking for clothing for myself, when I asked about consigning clothing of my Mom's, who passed away. The reply itself wasn't necessarily upsetting (I totally understand being clear about what a consignment shop will take after seeing some of the heavily used items people sometimes bring in), but rather the delivery. I was asked rather abruptly if they were more than 1-2 years old and if so, the store wouldn't accept them.

Here's the thing. I kept looking and noticed several items very similar to Mom's. When I held up one and asked, "So you would take something like this?" The reply was dry, "I'd have to see it." At this point, I was getting a little frustrated by the tone of voice and what seemed to be indifference to my potential business. I replied, "Obviously, but is this the type of clothing that you would accept?", which finally yielded a yes.

Now what I don't understand is, this store has been referred to as containing "vintage" clothing (which I'm pretty sure is not 1-2 years ago) as well as current desinger labels. Much of Mom's clothing I was referring to are a mix of amazing vintage clothing and/or designer labels she purchased in the U.S. and abroad, and a luxurious Russian Sable (and that's coming from someone who will not wear fur) with all of the original tags and receipts etc.

I was not dressed as such, and so possibly it was a case of a book being judged by its cover. Maybe it was just my perception. Regardless, what took place was enough to get me to leave the store and write this review.
