There's a whole lotta shakin' going on at this rockin' dueling-piano bar in Lower Queen Anne..
The portraits of music legends on the walls are big, but this L-shaped piano bar operates mostly on a smaller scale. A limited number of tables is available in both the front dining area and back bar, but minimal room doesn't bother the patrons, primarily sharp-dressed 30-somethings content to stand when seats are scarce. Only folks 21 and older are allowed.
No place else in Seattle offers live entertainment like this: Rotating pairs of high-energy musicians take turns performing toe-tapping tunes on back-to-back baby grand pianos. The show starts at 8pm with rock-and-roll classics and more contemporary requests belted out with equal frequency. The food, particularly the Chopstix Burger and Chicken Salad Annie, comes in large portions and at reasonable prices.
good entertainment - sometimes. I recently went to Chopstix again for the first time in over a year. The food was the same...pretty good for a bar. The drinks were the same...decent. The entertainment was quite a bit different. Though I recognized one of the players from the last time I had gone, I was a bit disappointed at the entertainment this time around. Maybe the club was testing out new players, but I really missed the quality show that I had seen over a year ago. By no means does this mean that I am not going to go back. I still had a pretty good time, even with the mediocre piano players.
Good pianist - bad bar. I went for a friend's birthday dinner and had a good time, but it was despite the bar. Mediocre food and a terrible waitress didn't help. The bar could also use a bit of a face-lift. The music was fun though, and the lead pianist did a great job interacting with my friend and the other people (ladies) there celebrating their birthdays or bachlorettes.
Watered down drinks....YEAH RIGHT!. If you think the drinks are watered down, I would say you may need AA. A group of us girls went to Chopstix for a bachelorette party and have never had so much fun!! Our waitress was AWESEOME and made sure our bachelorette got pulled on stage! We had reservations for a Saturday night so we had a table for us all. The food was better than I thought for a bar and the drinks were off the hook! I would stay away from the FOO FOO drinks if you want something more than juice and less flavor, but all in all great time!! OH Yeah, make sure to get the SHOT GUY to dance on stage. HILARIOUS!!!
Watered-down drinks. We went to Chopstix for a bachelorette party and during 4 hours ordered lots of mixed drinks, bombers, and shots. None of us are big drinkers, but due to the special occasion we wanted to have fun, especially since we had a designated driver. $350 later and NOT ONE of us was even remotely buzzed. We were very disappointed and angry, and by the time we realized that we needed to go elsewhere to get real drinks, we had run out of money. We believe Chopstix waters their drinks down a lot. There is no other explanation (we didn't eat a lot beforehand, all of us have been drunk at one point so we know how it feels, etc..). Again, we are all honest girls who know we can have fun without alcohol, but when that much money is involved it isn't funny. We really were cheated by this place.
Wow! So unique!. I have been to chopstix a few times and it is so much fun. I've made a point to go on a slow night (tues) and a busy night (fri) to see the difference. It's nice on slow nights because there's a better chance your request will get played. It's also a bit more personal with the players. To the people who gave this club a negative rating; your experience at this club will also depend upon what players are working the night you go. Most of the performers are great but there are a couple of players who can't sing and/or play the songs way too fast. But they all know a bunch of songs. Don't go on the weekend unless you want a loud, crazy party crowd. I give chopstix a big thumbs up!
worst piano bar i've ever been to.... I was expecting dualing pianos. Instead two jerks ruined some of my favorite songs. There was a lot of really stupid frat-boy pottymouth humer intermixed with songs I really like, played at twice the speed the original artist played them at. Knowing only half the words did not stop them! Maybe it was an off night, but this was a waste of cover-money and a waste of time. If you love music, do not go here. If you like adolescent sexual inuendo, baseball caps and doing shots out of test-tubes, this is the place for you!
Fun!. This place was so much fun! The piano players were very entertaining. I definitely want to come here on my birthday! I was suprised at how good the food was. The service was fabulous as well.
I've been to Chopstix twice and it's a blast!!! Be prepared to be hoarse after two hours of singing your heart out. The non-smoking aspect is a huge bonus.
A few words to the wise: Make reservations or you'll never sit down. Have a stash of $5 bills if you want to get your requests played. It's extremely loud and very crowded so don't expect to see your waiter/waitress very often on Friday nights.
My new favorite Seattle bar!.
Went to this place for the first time on Friday, 12/24. Cover was reasonable, only $7 for a Friday night. Service was great, waitress came by frequently. Love the fact that this place is smoke-free.
The "dueling piano" show is great... like having a live band in just 2 people, and everyone sings along. A little too crowded for dancing or anything, but it is a good time.
Only wish that they had their own parking lot, instead you either drive around looking for a spot, or pay for a lot (which if it's a Sonics night, can be up to $10 or more).
I'd recommend visiting this place at least once-- it's quite the experience.
