In Short – This sparse room in the northern blocks of the Ave plays host to students, faculty and professors every weekday chowing down on the varied Indian buffet, stocked with dishes from saag paneer to butter chicken. Traditional Indian music, scattered paintings and photographs set an exotic-yet-comfortable atmosphere. At dinner, low lighting transforms the space into a cozy restaurant serving tandoori dishes, dosas, Thali dinner platters and chicken, lamb, seafood and vegetable curries.
awesome food, really nice people

this place is my favorite indian spot on the ave. they deliver and have a cheap take out buffet. so so good. one night they were closing shop when i called about a take out order, and they took my order and came by. they're willing to go the extra step to make your dining experience great. the place is pretty simple and the decorations aren't what make this place great, but the food is. theyre also really consistent. always good.
- Pros: delicious buffet, kind service, not overbearing, delivery ++
Good chaats, Food not so authentic
by aarthiasdad at Citysearch
The service here was very nice. People were nice and friendly and were waiting promptly. While I did not like the main course too much, I found their chaats pretty appetizing and tasty. The place does not have a great ambience and parking can be a pain in U-district.
- Pros: Service
- Cons: Ambience, Parking
Amazing Indian Food!
by slandle4 at Citysearch
My best friend and I eat here at least a couple of times a month. We have had many items on the menu, but the best is definitely the chicken mango curry. The garlic naan is the best in the U-District and all of the appetizers are delicious. On a cold day, ORDER THE CHAI. It's out of this world. But the greatest part about Jewel of India is the service. The owners are so friendly and often bring you free food...usually rice pudding. Give this place a chance!
- Pros: great food, friendly service
- Cons: none
great indian buffet in the u district
by fishguru at Citysearch
This is my favorite place for Indian buffet when I am in the city. I often try to find a reason to be in the u district whenever I can make it there for the all you can eat buffet. I feel so good when I am full. It warms me up from the inside out on those cold and rainy days, it is like sunshine for the soul! since I live in Everett, it is a long drive to get there, but it is soooo worth every penny. I have never been disappointed and the service is great! This is a great place to bring your friends for lunch if you are buying. The prices are more then fair for what you get! share the love! kurt
- Pros: this is the place to be at lunch
- Cons: parking can be a problem, if you don't like to walk
Tasty and unexpectedly nice experience
by seattleregular at Citysearch
I've eaten A LOT of Indian food.
Jewel of India was a pleasant surprise- and their veggie pakora and butter chicken (my favorite) were fantastic. The guy who owns the place (cooks, too) was personable, friendly and came out to make sure I enjoyed my meal. So all in all, I had a very good experience there.
