Editorial Review for Chapel – by Paul Fontana
The Scene
Just like at the funeral home it replaced, dignity is at a premium at Chapel. Avoiding any trace of goth schlock, this stately nightclub opts for sleek European furnishings and soft lighting. Fun details abound: From the huge white-stone bar to the regal ornithological wallpaper upstairs and the coolest bathroom sinks in Seattle. Mirrored walls and high ceilings create an impression of spaciousness, but the main room is cozy. Those seeking more intimacy should head to the balcony, which offers a grand view of the bustle below.
The Draw
Young, smartly dressed Capitol Hill denizens are the core audience. Their discernment is rewarded with a drink menu that features a wide range of martinis, infused concoctions, a lengthy wine list and plenty of top-shelf pours. Quality ingredients also extend to the entree menu; simple starters such as the antipasto plate and salads are also recommended.

I have been going to the chapel every since they open a few years ago. This is a great spot for happy hour and yes they have a beautiful space but the staff RUINS it! They are not consistent with their level or service and they always seem really put out to do their jobs. Come on people open your eyes!
Pros: Drinks
Cons: Service

My buddies and I like to go to Chapel because of the people watching, great drinks and small plates. I have had not so good experiences with some of the staff because they seem to be rude. I was almost thinking that they were trying to be "rude" to be cool or something. But I had hands down the worst experience last Friday (2/15/08) when we were celebrating a birthday and this gal that waited on us was such a dragon lady. We had a big party and people were leaving early and paying separately and we still saw their items on our final bill! Not only did we have to refresh her memory but she was very grumpy and moody. It took us about 30min to resolve the issue and I have to say that I will think twice when a buddy makes a suggestion to go to Chapel. BAD SERVICE!
Pros: drinks and food
Cons: staff
