Tips for El Chalan

Me encanta!. I love coming to this restaurant, the food is excellent and the prices are great the only downside is the ambiance, they need to work on the illumination... but that's just me. Back to food, it is a-mazing there's nothing closer to gramma's cooking (a peruvian gramma, that is... but you get the picture). Whatever you are craving for just call ahead and they'll make it for you. They would have live music or do buffet for special days like Mother's Day or Independence Day, it's just great! Two things: If you want to have the best service ever go on weekdays when the owner is in but if you want to have as many choices on the menu as possible go during the weekend.

Delicioso!!. If you haven't tried Peruvian food yet you are definitely missing out! The seasoning and variety of food is fantastic. There is everything from seafood, to pan asian style stir fries and stews and ofcourse the chicken is great. The owner is very friendly and if it is your first time visiting you usually get a sample of their yummy "Chicha morada" fruit drink that is wonderful. They catered a luncheon at my work and it was a hit so I too hope this place makes it because it has become one of my favorite spots to order in or take out after work!

Lots of food. Loved the cilantro and olive oil that the bring with the bread. The portion sizes are much larger than we expected. Definitely share with friends.

Great Chicken!. I've been to this place a few times now, and I really hope they do make it. Their roasted chicken is so so good! I actually have never tired anything else, I like it so much. The sauces they have for it are really great and the salad has this very unique mustard dressing that I liked very much. The only thing I would change about the meal is that it's served with french fries...I might have chosen rice or something a little more interesting. But really, you must go try the chicken! So much flavor!!

Well worth the trip.... I feel exactly like the other reviewer....this is a real hidden gem in the city. And after talking to the owner tonight, I want nothing more than for it to no longer be hidden. Perfect for West Seattle folks looking to break away from same ol' in The Junction-area. Delicious food at the right price and the owner couldn't possibly be any nicer.

Out of the way Gem!!. I hope more people discover this restaurant as it is has great food and an incredibly warm and helpful staff. Tell you friends. I would hate for them to fold for a lack of adventurous eaters.
