Worst Venue in Seattle.
Small, Sound was way too loud, and there was so much treble i couldnt really even hear the guitars, my left ear is damaged even the next day, ive been to concerts at the Gorge and had that deafening sound in my ears for a few hrs, i learned my lesson and always wear ear plugs at big venues, never thought id need em at a small venue, and ive been to plenty.
That place is small enough that they dont have to crank it up so loud, and for f*** sake put the sound girl where she can hear the mix properly, like in the back of the venue, not above and to the right of the stage where you most certainly cant hear the mix properly.
Hey sound girl, at least step down once a set and listen to how shitty of a job youre doing, fIREHOSE complained twice and they are no young band.
Nothing wrong with my experience. I don't get what other people are complaining about, maybe it's just that they cleaned up their act or are now under new management. I came to the venue an hour before the show started, I had never been to this venue before and had no idea where to go. I asked a security guard outside and he was kind enough to direct me in the right direction. The guy taking the tickets was nice, we had a mini conversation of "Hey how's it going" type thing. I honestly couldn't find anything wrong with the guards, they were nice and mindful, and I didn't witness them throwing people out for stupid crap like they do sometimes at El Corazon. They even let people crowd surf throughout the show, and instead of the guard grabbing him and taking him back into the audience he pushed the person slightly back into the crowd. I minded my own business for most of the show, bought some merch and went home. The sound was great, i've been to 50+ concerts and this was probably one of the better sounding shows i've been too. Last show for Isis and i'm glad it was at this venue.
Under 21? Just stay home.. Patrons under 21 are treated like cattle. Maintain your dignity and save your money by staying home. Until this venue changes its policies regarding the treatment of minors and starts treating its customers like human beings it does not deserve your business.
arrogant poser bar staff. very lame bartenderrs - uptight inconsiderate and rude. i was there on aslow nite, and it was like this - i wonder how they handle a crowd.
Staff are bullies at Neumos.
I was so excited about seeing a live music venue. Once we had purchased our ticket they informed us that we couldn't drink at the venue. We're aged 27 so they informed us to drink at every other bar in broadway, capitol hill area (clearly not strictly living by the rules). When we tried to explain to four staff about letting us in on Australian driver's license, they were rude and patronising, citing reasons for refusal of entry such as "poor baby", "oh damn" or laughing in our face. When we were forced to stand with a bunch of small children and teenagers, we asked for a refund, hoping to find one of the more reasonable and friendly bars to see a gig. We were aggressively told to suffer, and pay $50 extra to get cabs back to the hotel for our passports when clearly we were over age.
Suffice to say, we didn't enjoy our stay at Neumo's and would not recommend it to any visitor to Seattle. They don't like foreigners!!!
P.S and I lost my hat :(
Rude workers who dont know what they are doing!. I went to Neumo's for the Balkan Beat Box show but I couldnt get in. Even though I am well over 21 years old, and I have a valid, government issued ID (a green card/permanent resident card) and supporting documents to show, they wouldnt let me in. They said they only accept ID's or passports. Green Card's are issued by The Department of Homeland Security and they are impossible to fake, and they are the most powerful ID's other than a passport, It even has your finger print on it, but the smart-ass door guys told me that I need to get an ID. I will never ever go to that place ever again, even if they host a really good band. I will also look into complain about this situation because I dont believe they have a right to turn an immigrant away who has a valid ID.
This club isn't managed well. This is to one of the owner?s of Neumos. I think his name is Mike. Mike needs to get over his Napoleon complex. I have seen how he forces the security guards to manhandle women. I?ve seen him push woman out of the way because he needs to get through a crowd. Your club is the worst club in the city and it looks like most of the reviewers here agree. Also if I count all the reviews and if my math is correct, shouldn?t this place be getting only 2 stars instead of 4 ?? I hope the city shuts this place down. There are serious fire codes being violated the times I have been there. It's too bad that some good bands end up playing here. I'm sure there are better places in Seattle that they could play at, maybe the Vera Project or Chop Suey. I won?t ever be going here again.
Wish I could see it. Finally a free show that everybody could see.... oh wait it's not. My favorite band is Dub Trio and I can't got see them tonight because I'm only 15. I've been to lots of shows at Neumo's and they're generally pretty good venue but this is absurd. If somebody's going to smoke, shoot up, or screw a kid standing next to them isn't going to stop them. This is moldy milky horseshit. I know that some of you fuckers think that if they stop putting a minimum age on shows, it'll turn into a kiddie fest but take a look at the all ages shows, 90% of them are 18+.
I can confirm, neumos is a scam..
Just like the post two down I was at Tim and Erics awesome show great job and was not let back on the floor after going upstairs to get a drink because as the staff stated, "the floor is at capacity". Good luck seeing the stage from the upper level. I am 6ft tall and couldn't see anything. As more people came upstairs, they wouldn't let anyone back down to the floor to take their place. Felt trapped in the bar like we were animals. The scary thing is people just kept buying drinks because the show at that point was a lost cause. This is Illegal!
I threatened to call the police and they eventually gave me my money back but I really had to work for it.
Neumos is running a scam. I just got home from Neumos. I went to see the Kills. I had bought my ticket two months ago. I turned in my ticket at the front door, but then at the door to the room where the band was playing there was a line of people waiting to get in. They and I could not see the band because Neumos and TicketWest sold more tickets than the capacity of the room. The employees there thought it sucked, but they only work there and don't make the rules. So, don't go to Neumos unless you ready to get there early enough to get in, and don't drink too much, because if you have to go to the bathroom, you may not get in to see the band--even though you paid for a tciket to see the band. I'm surprised operating a business like this is legal. I think it's a rip-off.
