In Short – This alternative U-District cafe caters to an assortment of students, filmgoers (the Neptune is right next door) and coffee lovers searching for the perfect cup. Comfortable couches, tables and a loft area offer distinct spaces for working, and many patrons tote laptops and take advantage of the free Wi-Fi. The cafe's owners are dedicated to Fair Trade--they only feature beans from small-batch growers, which are then brewed on state-of-the-art Clover machines for a smooth, rich cup of drip. Frozen chai drinks are also popular.
Acidic coffees
by gelagela7
I went three times, each time in hope of better coffee. The baristas are nice, friendly, informative; they have a chessboard in the branch on UW campus. But the coffees.... they're too acidic for me, perhaps you may have a better experience. I'm not sure I'd like to go here, again. For less acidic coffee, I would go with Bauhaus Books&Cafe (capitol hill) or Espresso Vivace (south lake union).
- Pros: nice, informative baristas
- Cons: pricey, acidic coffees

a coffee house without just coffee??
by Daners00
i came to trabant because it was said that it was the best coffee house in seattle. i ordered a chai and it was SUPER sweet. no big deal, right? so i went to the barista and asked her to dump out half the cup and fill the other half with just plain old drip coffee. she rolled her eyes. said "we dont have JUST coffee". wow, really? but the place itself is cool. students on first dates, studying, listening to bad grunge rock. all in all, i sort of felt like i have been to many of these places before and to be the best, i was not overly impressed. it was just okay. i could have gone to (god forbid) starbucks and gotten real drip instead.
- Pros: free wireless, cool environment
- Cons: no real coffee
