Amazing place for gelato and authentic italian coffee. plenty of selection to choose from and very friendly staff! Me and my wife just got back to Italy, and it was so nice to find an authentic gelato shop in my home town. The texture is so smooth and wonderful! It's now my favorite dessert place of all time when I'm in the downtown area
Best ice-cream in Seattle. Incredible ice-cream, great service, simply the best! Have been here too many times to count and they are consistently the best you can find anywhere. Love the peach gelato, mmmm, mmmm, mmmm!
Best Gelato In Town. I first wandered in here after a long day at the Pike Place Market. I went to Italy a few years back and couldn't stop thinking about the gelato available on every corner. I had tried some other gelato around town but nothing compared to Bottega Italiana! The flavour is so powerful, the texture is so creamy and smooth. Try the strawberry, the pieces will just burst in your mouth! I asked one of their employees why their gelato was so good and they said that it was because they only use proven Italian recipes for each of their flavours. If you can't find it in Italy, you won't find it there. And, oh, the espresso is great too!
Best Gelato, no question..
I love Bottega Italiana's gelato. For that matter I really enjoy their espresso, too. The first thing that caught me about their gelato, though, was it's texture. I couldn't believe the smoothness! After the texture the flavor awoke and I was in love. Seriously, it's amazing that so much pure, unadulterated taste can be packed onto such a tiny spoon. Actually, this place has gelato just like in Italy, not that ice-crystal-ed stuff one often finds while trying "gelato" in the US. As for Bottega's espresso, it is lovely and pairs excellently with the gelato. I especially like the dairy gelati (such as chocolate or panna cotta) with the espresso over it (ask for an affogato, they know what to do).
The summers there bring a lot of fruit flavors to the gelato case. I really recommend stopping in during late summer for the watermelon and peach...oh, and the mango is usually around during mid summer.
The one thing about the fruit flavors is that Bottega actually uses fresh fruit so they only carry those flavors when the fruit's in season. Kind of a bummer when you want mango in December, but at least it's all natural. Oh, I do recommend experimenting with your gelati pairings. Try the pear with the caramel, or the coffee with the panna cotta...terrific!
