The Scene
Ceilings hang low, lighting beams brightly, walls glow sky-blue and air hockey provides the action. Windows stretch around the corner, allowing natural light in during the day, when the lunch hour attracts the hungry rather than hipster nighttime drinkers. Alternative, SoCal punk, and hard rock music fill the jukebox, while pinball machines invite young patrons to some friendly competition.
The Draw
The hand-mixed, tangy bloody mary is a popular selection, with fat green olives and a pickled brussels sprout acting as tasty garnishes. Locals also come for Tex-Mex tamales, hard-shelled chicken tacos, crispy taquitos and chili verde pork, prepared by the chef, who has won numerous state fair food awards. Every second Thursday, trivia night brings in factphiles looking to pick each other's brains, rather than pick each other up, as well as those just taking advantage of the cheap well drinks.
