Am I at the city dump or...wait...this is a restaurant?. Seriously. BluWater Leschi is a disaster. Read the real reviews and it's clear. I'm curious though - how does the CitySearch rating show 5 stars when most of the ratings are 1 or 2? And does anyone believe johnnyfitz is anything but a plant? Three reviews, all for BluWater, all five stars. No other reviews at all. Gosh I'm fooled. Check out the other 5 star reviews - the user only has one or two reviews and they're for BluWater. PLANTS people. Don't be fooled. Do yourself and your wallet a big favor and steer clear of BluWater until the management and ownership changes. Until then you're wasting your time and money.
Poor Customer Service & Food. I agree with Sirfrancis and truseagirl - They must have new owners because a few years ago around summertime this place was better! I sat at the bar hoping I would get faster service however that was not the case so I had to move to a table in the restaurant section. The bartenders were two busy talking amongst themselves to even notice I was sitting there. Considering the place was not even busy I would of expected faster service than that. I ordered a chicken pasta dish but it was more like a 'soup' and not tasty at all - not what I had expected! The place was better when it was the Leschi Cafe! What a change! I would not recommend this restaurant at all unless you like poor customer service, bad food and drinks! Don't be fooled by the reviews of this restaurant from the Seattle Times and PI if you note that the last time the restaurant was reviewed was 3 years ago or so!
Overpriced and Disgustingly filthy.
As a resident of the leschi neighborhood I am always a strong advocate for our local restaurants. I have frequented the Blue Water Bistro for some time (over 2 years) and have steadily seen it's decline in quality of food, level of service and overall cleanliness.
Food: We ordered Fish Tacos and the Seafood Louie For an entree that is 17.00+ I would expect clean preparation, fresh seafood and some semblance of flavor. What we received was a meal you would usually expect at Denny's. Seriously. The food was slopped together on the plate, items spilling over each other and there was water all over each plate...enough to where some items were floating. The fish that came with the tacos looked more like cooked snake from the tv show "Man vs Wild" than grilled fish, and the seafood with "Seafood Louie" was almost non existent..barely enough to fill 2 bites.
Service: While jovial our server seemed more like a robot droid than a human being. I am so tired of the corporate speak that waitstaff nowadays has to utter. Our drinks took forever and our server was always quick to leave the table. Drop the drinks and get the heck out of there. Bring the plates and run away. More than anything we felt as though we were an inconvenience.
Cleanliness: Most people don't look down when they're in a restaurant..but they should. If this is any indication of how they clean the the restaurant they should be shut down. I have never seen carpet so disgustingly awful. Take a look the next time you go in...the carpet is black from traffic. When I saw this it nearly turned my stomach. For restaurant management to overlook something this horrendous is inexcuseable. Clean your restaurant.
Summary: Overpriced and filthy. Beyond disappointing.
Dock the boat and drop in for a waterfront view and icy drinks..
In Short
Featuring a fabulous view and packed with fabulous folks, this waterfront spot combines upscale fare with an ambience focused on the singles scene. Start with the Parmesan-baked artichoke dip and move on to a salad of blue cheese, sliced pears and smoked almonds. First-timers often opt for grilled mahi mahi served with sauteed spinach. Rib eye steak arrives topped with guacamole, salsa and a dab of sour cream.
great in the winter with the leather couches and fireplace, and even BETTER in the summer with the water view and the awesome outdoor bar!. This restaurant in Leschi has been going strong for about two years now, and I just get more impressed with it as time goes by. The bartenders are funny and friendly, the food is great, and the servers in the dining room are not only knowledgable about the menu and wine list, but they are knockouts (I realize this isn't always a selling point, but it cant hurt). We live about six blocks away, and love that they stay open and serve a full dinner menu until 1am yet also are up early to feed us for Saturday and Sunday brunch. Its entrees are about half the price of Daniels Broiler (which is next door), and the food is just as good, and the atmosphere is even better. Love this place, keep it up guys!
No longer a good spot. I wrote a review last summer expressing how great BluWater is. Now, I'm singing a different tune. Over the past month, we've had dinner at Leschi location twice, and dinner at LkUnion location once. All three meals were horrible. Only thing we could stomach were the semistrong drinks. We kept going back hoping that the staff were having an 'off' night, but seems the quality at both locations is slipping quickly. Our friends have had same experiences. Only items worth eating are Mac&Cheese w/crab (they're skimping on crab too), and tollhouse cookie. DO NOT try mahi tacos, fish&chips, or burger. Our usual favs are now drab, flavorless, and just thrown on the plate. SO NOT WORTH THE COST
Great spot for outdoor eating. This place is a nice place for brunch or a meal outside on a warm summer's evening. Service is consistently excellent, though. There's nothing else really around Leschi, so it's a great location. The food, however, is a bit too complicated and overpriced. The menu is pretty small, too. Seems like a real pick-up joint around the bar too.
Couldn't ask for more. The bluwater in Leschi is a much needed addition to our neigborhood. Very fairly priced (look at the prices compared to Daniels..Yikes!), with friendly, knowledgeable servers, great food, and a beautiful view. The bar has both indoor and outdoor seating, when outside I feel like I'm at a resort pool swim-up bar! A huge deck, with patio heaters... I just can't say enough. I've lived in Leschi for 15 years and was so bored with our choices. Thank you Bluwater, for spicing things up a little!
Just one more corona please?. My girlfriend and I stopped in at this leschi restaurant last week for a quick drink. We sat at the outside bar for a beer, and one lead to another. Our bartender was great, funny and friendly, and we ended up staying for dinner. I had the New York steak and she had the salmon, everything was perfect! Just as good as the Met, but with better service and at half the price. We ended staying for a couple of hours, everyone was so nice, I couldn't have asked for anything more. Would have liked to stay for just one more beer, but we ran out of time. I'll be back!
love it!. another great place by those bluwater bistro folks! about time someone woke up the leschi neighborhood. great eats, drinks, fun clientele and and an even more fun staff with some of the best bartenders around. Food is great, portions are huge, and its cheap to boot. can't wait to go back, sit at that outside bar, and watch the next mariners game on that big flat screen tv. its like home but with no wife and better food!
