Editorial Review for El Gaucho Cigar Lounge – by Don Rauf

The Scene
The cigar lounge at this swanky steakhouse has all the trappings for some red-blooded, two-fisted drinking, including a mounted sailfish, deer head, branding iron and a framed jersey of Seahawks running back Shaun Alexander. Mix in the game on the overhead TV and you have an ideal spot to splurge with buddies or treat clients with a touch of class.

The Draw
Guys seeking the manly trinity of a steak, martini and a good cigar will find their needs well-attended by veteran bartenders and waitstaff. Top-shelf liquor highlights the drinks menu, from the small-batch bourbon to the blue agave tequila. For food, the full restaurant menu is available, but the bar menu provides more moderately priced choices, including a tender top-sirloin sandich and a sizzling plate of buttery, garlicky escargot.

Insider Tips

Save Money

Be ready to plunk down $20 or more for a fine Macanudo from the cigar menu or save a few bucks and bring your own smokes.

What to Drink

You can count on the traditional cocktails (priced at $9 with name-brand alcohol) but if your tastes lean toward the sweet, try a specialty drink like a Gaucho Punch or a flaming Spanish coffee.

Know Before You Go

If you're looking for dinner, dancing and live jazz, check out El Gaucho's Pampas Room, open Friday and Saturday nights only.
