Ballard Market Micro Class. I recently joined a girlfriend for the Micro market class offered by the store. Not only did we get to try veggies we had seen in the Ballard farmer's (but didn't know how to prepare) we had a great visit during a very relaxed class. I certainly recommend this event for lovely Sunday lunch of celeriac soup, roasted rutabaga and parsnips, kale with bacon and baby carrots, brussel sprouts and tiny potatoes.

Great Classes!. I went to a Sweets for the Streets class with Autumn Martin and learned how to make several varieties of truffle. It was reasonably priced and very educational. The instructor was very knowledgable and lots of fun!

I browsed the shop afterward and found goods that I would find in City Kitchen or Sur la Table but at normal people prices. I'm definately headed back for kitchen goodies...

Joy of Thai Cooking. My bf and I took Pranee's Joy of Thai Cooking class in the new Ballard store a few weeks ago and, for the most part, enjoyed ourselves. Pranee is a true Thai chef, was humble and humorous, attentive, and fun. The menu she went over was diverse, with five different things, including green curry, wide rice noodles, fresh wraps, tom kha soup, and black sticky rice for dessert. Overall, it was great. The only thing that would have made it better is more student-instructor interaction and more hands-on learning. It was pretty demonstrative, but not too hands-on at all. And, the class was packed, way too many students for the amount of food that was prepared.

Terrific store and class. Last night's cooking class with Dahlia Lounge chef Brock Johnston was one of the best I've taken and I'm a veteran cooking student. It was small, hands on and the instructor was so passionate about his work and about teaching us and letting us chop, roll, stir...the meal alone was worth the class fee (wine was included too)

An extra huge bonus was the store's merchandise, and the three of us who came to class bought kitchen things at 10% off-extended all week to cooking students. I'd shop here anyway as the staff was knowledgeable and helpful. Keep up the great customer service!
