Editorial Review for Doug Fir – by Bevyn K. Rowland
In Short
Exposed fir beams and a winding wooden bar are illuminated by chrome light fixtures in retro-mod decor. Rough-edged rockers huddle in vinyl booths, while a swanky Eastside cohort indulges at the blond-wood counter. Downstairs, a 300-person venue conjures music hounds seven nights a week. Upstairs, a huge menu of Northwest comfort cuisine and knockout libations satiate preshow partiers and after-hours club-hoppers. Tasty eats are served all day.

Insider Tips
Know Before You GoMint juleps and bloody marys are potent and not for the light of heart. Daintier palates will appreciate a blackberry cosmo or specialty martini.
The ExtrasThe lounge is located right across from the groovy Jupiter Hotel, catering to the budget-wise hipster crowd.
On the MenuMenu items include flaky halibut fish-and-chips, meltingly delish crab cakes and fire-grilled artichokes. Heavier faves like the meat loaf or biscuits and gravy will help bring you down after a long night of cocktails and clubbing.

Went to see a Tuesday night band and was surprised it was crowded, obvoiusly a great place to see bands and dance. "Do It Offend You Yeah?" played, great band from the UK. Went back early Friday night, got shots and sangria (sangria was too watery) and chilled on the patio. Only minus is all the smokers but there was an outside fireplace and cool crowd. Great place to go any day of the week and beautiful decor, love the wood everywhere.
Pros: Parking found right away
Cons: Watery sangria

My husband & I always go early on a weekend to unwind in the bar area & snack on the happy hour food menu (cheeseburger and artichoke & spinach dip - mmmmmm!). The atmosphere at that hour is calm - cute, kitschy log cabin decor, lots of intimate areas for small groups. There are outside tables for smokers or those who simply want to sip alfresco. The attached Jupiter Hotel lends itself to the mod, mid-century feel. We've never seen a band there or gone late at night - prolly a completely different experience.
Pros: Mod, mid-century log cabin decor, good happy hour food menu, comfy seating
