Ignore negative reviews, May Restaurant is GOOD. I almost didn't visit May Restaurant because someone had written a negative review of it (unfortunately, the one featured in the short blurb that comes up when doing a Google search). What my wife and I experienced was the opposite of the negative review. The dishes we had--Larb Gai, Summer Fire and Lemongrass Chicken--were quite tasty. Nick, our waiter, was friendly, personable and prompt in serving us. And the atmosphere--a reconstructed restaurant from Thailand--was conducive to a very pleasant meal.…
Wow. I drove by this place so many times and always wonder what the food is like. It reminds me of this temple in Thailand. I used to live there for 5 years, traveling to many places in Thailand and always love to try their local food. It has been 3 years since I left. I missed the food, because most Thai restarant around Seattle have Americanize food with American ingredients. I was a little sceptical about this place at first but decided to try it out anyways. I walked in and was stunned by how beautiful it looks from the inside as it looks outside. The server sat me down at a table by a window. I looked around before I even looked at the manu. The place looks like this traditional Thai house I used to live aboard while I was traveling outside the main cities, absolutly beautiful. I looked at the menu and see the price, Ouch! The items on the menu are the commond Thai food serves in any other Thai restaurant, with a few item that are different. I decided to have Gai Ho Bai Toey (appertizer) and Pad Thai (entree). I would have to say it was the best Thai Food I had ever have in America. There isn't really a word to discribe it. I understand Thai very well from living there for 5 years. The waitress are very polite and nice. Even when they talked among themselves. I over stuffed myself with Pad Thai. One trick I learn, Phad Thai is only good when you eat it fresh. When the bill came, I was more than happy to pay $25 including tip, for the testy food I devour.…
THE WORST !!!. I'm a Seattle native and have eaten at almost every Thai restaurant in Seattle. I also lived in Thailand for 6 years. Thai food is my favorite cuisine. Trust me when I say that May Thai is THE WORST Thai restaurant in Seattle or surrounding areas. The food is HORRIBLE, the prices are CRAZY, and the "service" is insane how bad it is. Our waitress didn't even pretend to care. Check out reviews on other sites and you'll start to see the same things I'm saying in this review. Trust me, eat ANYWHERE but here !!!…
Great Lounge Atmosphere, Snacks and Drinks!.
So I've been to this place a few times now and have to say all of the reviews on this page are correct to a certain extent. The Main menu does seem to be overpriced, but the Happy hour menu
(Described to us as an almost Thai Tapas Menu) is reasonable and tasty. The portions are not huge on either but there are some real gems in there. The lounge downstairs is an excellent place to relax with your friends, have a drink and listen to an eclectic mix of music. The Bartenders are friendly and make fantastic drinks which are reasonably affordable during their early and late happy hours. There was even Live Jazz which was amazingly good (I think this happens every Thursday night).
As far as the service, they seem to hire inexperienced Thai Girls with limited customer service experience upstairs. Very friendly, but not nearly as smooth as they should be for the price you pay. Downstairs the service is much better but you must be willing to accept the "lounge" atmosphere. I am, and am satisfied every time.
Pros: Drinks, Lounge, Atmosphere, Happy-Hour Menu.
Cons: Price, Inconsistant Entrees, Parking…
dissapointed.
No hospitality there.
Over priced, that's ok..... when it comes with service, but this place has opposite!
we got over charged on the bill which the server admits it was her fault, and tells us there is no way to fix it.
wrong item, cold food, over cooked food and rude service. i would never go back there.
Had good meal in the past, so very dissapointed, but it was just bad enough, we are not taking a risk to give them another chance.…
