What People Are Saying About Mission

The Scene – Lanterns, dark wood and high ceilings--think Frieda Kahlo's Mexico--have a sexy appeal more appropriate for late-night drinks than an after-work taco fest. A long bar and a cozy mezzanine are ideal for casual chats, while the booths that run along the opposite side offer dimly-lit corners and plenty of privacy. Servers are generous with their opinions, and mix casual friendliness with professionalism when it comes to drink refills and requests. – – The Food – Start off with the chunky guacamole and plantain chips-- the perfect companion for a cool mojito…
Editor's Tips
- Save Money:
- Take advantage of the special happy hour prices 5pm-7pm and 10pm-midnight.
- When to Go:
- The later it is, the younger the crowd. After 9pm, most of the scene happens upstairs or around the bar.
- Save Money:
- Food and drink specials are offered 4 to 6pm and 10pm to midnight, everyday, during happy hour.

It was 4:00 pm and the sun was finally out in full force so ducking inside for Happy Hour at Mission was no easy task. Once you walk through the front door you are immediately ensconced in darkness.
That's usually not a bad thing - the bar is very well designed with an amazing flagstone built-in bar - but when you're in Seattle you try and fill up on the vitamin D whenever you get the chance.
Fortunately for us the door was left opened so we grabbed a front booth and had the best of both worlds... checking out the cool, dark environs inside - while a nice swath of sun lit up the Day of the Dead alter up front.
Upside: Decent Happy Hour. We had the Mission Nachos and the taco plate - both $5. Good food - good value.
Downside: Service. Our waiter, distracted by her friends sitting on the outside patio, seemed to forget us after we put in our order. The bartender was not any more help as he tended to his girlfriend more than he tended bar. In addition, both waiter and bartender openly snacked from the kitchen while we were still waiting for our food.
Bottom line - great design, decent food, less than stellar service.
- Pros: Decent happy hour
- Cons: Not so decent service

My husband & I frequent Mission. Wonderful food & service has always been good. It's a great place to relax after work, have dinner and wind down.
- Pros: Great taste sensations & service. Comfort place.
- Cons: None
Awful Awful Awful

1 star because 0 is not an option!!!! It took an hour to settle the bill. We were not told that there was an 18% gratuity tacked on for 6 or more. One of our party needed to leave and the entire bill was brought to us with the statement about 18% written in. Waitress Lauren was very abrasive when asked to split the check so our one person could leave. Worst service I have ever experienced in my life. Not worth the time or stress involved!!! Will never go back and neither will the people I was with any of their friends or families!
- Pros: None
- Cons: Waitress Lauren and Bartender where beyond rude
Excellent Service

I have read a recent review of one of the servers at Mission, Lauren, and just have to comment. My family and I go to Mission quite regularly and request Lauren to be our server.
She has always been attentive, pleasurable, and extremely helpful. My only thought is that whomever wrote this review had a few too many drinks!!! I think it was your party that was quite rude.
- Pros: Atmosphere
Horrible Serivice

Our server, Lauren, was incredibly rude. She never asked us if we wanted another drink, cleared the plates before we were done eating and got an attitude when we asked for more water. We were never overly demanding, she was just overly impatient with us. I called and tried to talk to the manager regarding Lauren's service after we left and the manager hung up on me. Clearly they don't care about customer service at this restaurant. It's really disappointing because I've enjoyed going to this restaurant in the past however I've never had great service there. I will never give this restaurant my money ever again.
- Pros: None- I'd give them zero stars if I could
- Cons: Rude servers and bad food
