Editorial Review for The War Room – by Hannah Levin
The Scene
Previously a nondescript dance club, this ideal Pike Street location has been warmed up with rich pine siding and became a major draw on the Capitol Hill scene in 2005. Mixing elements of class and comfort, the space has much to offer, from low-slung communal couches in the lounge to the perfectly situated dance floor in the main room, a generously sized space with strategically placed booths for views of the action. The cordial staff lives up to their motto that "peace is our profession."
The Draw
Saturday's Yo Son! and Soul City Mondays with Circle of Fire regularly attract crowds. Summer happy hours are also a big attraction, thanks to a large rooftop deck that provides an unexpected oasis in a neighborhood known for higher noise levels. Even on breezy days, shielding bamboo screens make this an idyllic spot for an afternoon margarita or a weekend bloody mary.

This place has a pretty nice club atmosphere for Capital Hill. The interiors are well-designed and there is always a fun and happening vibe in this place. Since it IS Capital Hill, there will always be some quirky people but no one ever bothers you or ruins your evening. Not really a good place to eat, but the drinks are decent enough. The music and atmosphere are the main draw, by far. As for the poor review below mine, I strongly suggest you think twice before respecting the review of someone who mimics the idiolect of a gang-banger and who obviously doesn't have any command of grammar or spelling.
Pros: atmosphere, dancing/music
Cons: parking, neighborhood
