Editorial Review for Bella Cosa Foods – by Anna Roth
In Short
There's something about this small specialty foods store that just screams "neighborhood," from the friendly greeting of the smiling owner and her crew (who know many of their more regular patrons by name), to the willingness of other shoppers to advise on their favorite products. The front of the store features a deli case with salumi meats and other artisan cheeses, along with Macrina bread and shelves of other local and international products like pumpkin preserves and fancy balsamis. A well-picked wine selection, with many affordable options, occupies one corner, and the staff is perfectly happy to give recommendations. Up the stairs you'll find cookware from Le Cruset, a tasteful selection of cookbooks and more kitchen goodies. Sandwiches are also available at the deli counter.

I just had such fun at their chocolate class, which was good for the tastings and the appreciation it gave me for chocolate in general. Without being snobby about it, they helped give me a sense of what makes good chocolate really GOOD, and I feel I now really enjoy it more as a result. More classes, please! This is a place where food enthusiasm is catching. Brava!
Pros: great classes, delicious food

A jewel of a find in Wallingford (and look closely, or you'll miss it as you go by on 45th). This is the place to come to fill in your pantry with all the little things that make good dining: excellent salts and spreads, cured tuna, Spanish paprika (easily the match of Hungarian, at a fraction of the price), and the like. They even have rare offerings seen few other places. I haven't come across Mostardo (a kind of "jam" made from grapes and either walnuts or hazelnuts, I believe) since I was in Italy, and their French cookies are perfect.
Pros: Excellent Selection, Unusual Offerings, Pretty Store
