Excellent service, amazing massage, great value.

by AlisonB

Not sure why the previous review was so negative. I started going to Oriental Retreat & Spa about 4 months ago and have been there for 3 times now. I always had a great experience every time I go there. The spa is not fancy but very nicely decorated and setup. It feels calm, professional, welcoming and relaxing. With the pricing they have, it is a great deal.

The massage and the service were excellent. The people there were very professional, experienced and friendly. I have tried other Chinese massage places around Eastside, this one sure is the best around. The atmosphere, the skill, and services are consistently to be excellent. They treat me like a VIP every time I go there. Their style of massage (called ChiGong massage) is very therapeutic and relaxing. I had a back pain because I work on the computer all day long. After just 2 visit, the pain is 80% better. They really know what they are doing.

  • Pros: service, atmosphere, massage
  • Cons: hard to get in on the weekend

Oriental Retreat Spa Rip-OFF!

by giavannagems

I was told of this place and decided to drop by.They were having a half off sale of a spa package which was 70.00 that included a 90 min treatment of massage, hand parrafin treatment and a herbal foot soak.

The massage was in a makeshift room with walls that didnt goto the top of ceiling as I could hear everyone in the reception area and the people getting massages next door. I was very irriatated to begin with that as I hear clapping on the backs practically in my room as its an echo effect. My theripists name was Amy and she had the smelliest feet ever! She wear an open back sandal so when ever she came in my area of my head i felt like throwing up! She only did one side of me which was my back and was very hard on me while chopping and slapping my back..I felt beat up and couldnt wait to finish(I shouldve at that time just walked out) So after 30 mins she took me into a dark room with an electric fireplace that was broken with a few lounge type chairs. the herbal dip was just some dirty water and the parrafin wax was applied and i was left alone in the room for like an hour! a few others were also dropped off in there and we all sat in the dimly lit room with the loud reception room echoing in there. I finally am able to leave and I wasnt going to even tip but Amy and some of her co workers suddenly appear by the register and are whispering to each other and the receptionist actually asks me if i want to tip her. i felt on the spot and gave a 3 dollar tip. I will NEVER return as this was the worst treatment and a big rip off EVER!! Tell your friends dont waste their money or time...these people know what they are doing and this was 90 mins of hell!

  • Pros: Nothing!
  • Cons: Stinky Staff, Loud Massage Rooms, Poorly run business

You will be AMAZED how RELAXED you CAN BE!

by againflying

1. No Cameras can see in the rooms. There is one in the hallway between the rooms. The walls are pony walls, but you would have to be 11 feet tall to be seen by the cameras. (Note:if you cannot see the camera, the camera CANNOT see you!)

2. The pony walls do lend to a sometimes stereo experience of CHOP CHOP CHOP CHOP. But I found it more funny than anything.

3. With most spa treatments you are SUPPOSED to be left alone, so you can RELAX. So if you think doing a body wrap, paraffin dip, or herbal soak is like the attention of a manicure, or massage, you will be DISAPPOINTED.

4. The staff is does traditional oriental massage and treatments, make sure to communicate any privacy, intensity, or temperature needs you have.

5. Check the website for specials.

6. CON is the pony walls, sometimes you don't want to hear the CHOP CHOP CHOP CHOP CHOP.

  • Pros: Great staff, nice packages. 4HAND MASSAGES!
  • Cons: Pony Walls.
