A wonderful end to 2008!

by JBizy

I brought my girlfriend there for New Year's Eve, looking for a special evening. I got that and then some. This is the first time I've reviewed any place, but I thought that this evening warranted it, especially after last years train wreck.

I found this place online and chose it from the great reviews others had left on multiple sites. They only offered a preset menu for $75/person (but as I found out in years past, so does every place on New Year's). I know, sounds like a lot, but it was 5 courses + champagne.

We arrived 15 min. early for our 8PM res. and the place was packed. We did end up waiting 10 min. for a table, so we had a drink at the bar next door. Looking around the place looked a little old school, until I heard the muzak version of Nine Inch Nails! Ha! The service was incredible, or should I say the "server" because it looked like he had the whole restaurant himself, and yet he was still very attentive and helpful deciphering the Italian language on the menu. It looked like the owner running around helping, very nice guy also.

The food was spot on from the little bite of an appetizer that we were served with our champagne almost as soon as we sat down, to the awesome tiramisu (and I'm a connoisseur). I had the best carpaccio I've ever had, it was made from Kobe Beef! The mushroom risotto, (YUM), came out with the potent smell of truffles. And the Kobe New York (need I say more?). My girlfriend is a vegetarian and they had the whole spread for her too, and she loved it.

All in all a great meal that I will be returning to find. My girlfriend even dragged me into the women's bathroom (not like that) to show me, and the place was a palace, and all the guy's had was a lousy shoebox. I guess they know who to pamper.

Thanks for making 2008 go out with a boom.

Perfect

by kidgraphite

I took my wife here last weekend for her birthday. The food was excellent, the wine was a perfect complement, and the service (Chris, the owner) was outstanding. The restaurant has a small interior, with fireplace, and is nice and quiet so you can enjoy the company you are with. The food all tasted very fresh and flavorful.

I'm a transplant from San Francisco, and travel frequently. I have to say this was some of the best food and service I've experienced. Top drawer, in every regard. Thank you, Chris.

  • Pros: Fresh, flavorful food. Outstanding, friendly service. Quiet, warm, romantic. Perfect in every regard. An incredible find.
