I was looking for a local salon and found the Hair By Joey Salon. I have to say, I am someone that dislikes salons and have given myself more than a few bad haircuts to avoid them. Joey's salon is different. He puts you at ease, and the environment is really comfortable and relaxed. I love that he has photos of the haircuts he has done on his website and everything is so geared toward his clients. My haircut experience with him was great. He made sure he was really clear about what I wanted before he started the cut. He had great suggestions about what would look good with my face shape, hair type and lifestyle. I work outdoors and don't take anytime with my hair. He was able to give me a haircut that makes me feel feminine without a fuss. I love my haircut! Love it!

It is quite a challenge to find a hair stylist who is talented both in the art of hair color and the art of hair cutting. Joey has met the challenge and far exceeded my expectations—after my first visit to Hair by Joey, I couldn’t be more pleased with my hair color and haircut.

Last year my hair stylist moved out of state, and I began my quest for a new hair stylist for cuts and highlights/color. A few weeks ago I came across Hair by Joey’s blog (which I highly recommend) and booked my appointment for a cut and highlights. It had been 5 months since my last salon visit, so my hair was looking pretty ratty. I have curly, longish, fine hair—you curlies know that curly hair can be tricky to cut, so I have been a little wary of haircuts in the past (triangle head, eek!). I needn’t have worried-- the entire experience with Joey was fantastic. During the consultation, he asked many questions to clarify what I wanted, and made sure that he correctly understood me. Since I was not entirely sure about what I wanted with my color, he offered two alternatives, pulling out photos from hair magazines to help me understand his thoughts. This exchange made me feel completely comfortable with Joey, and made me trust his opinions and ideas. And, when it was all done, I was amazed and delighted. Joey has a gift for color, he is able to choose tones that mesh with your natural coloring (skin tone, eye color). Not only did I love my new highlights/lowlights, I loved the haircut. My curls have sprung to life again. Not only was I pleased with the results of Joey’s work, I enjoyed my appointment with him. His hair studio is very relaxing, akin to a spa experience, in stark contrast to the chaotic bustling atmosphere of a typical hair salon. Joey’s hair studio has a massage chair (which I quite enjoyed as my hair was processing), a lovely view of the Cascade mountains, a cozy fireplace area, and relaxing background music. I highly recommend Hair by Joey, you will not be disappointed.

I CAME ALL THE WAY FROM RENO!!!. I've traveled all the way from Reno to see Joey!!! I started having him do my hair when I would visit my daughter in Seattle. However, she has now moved to another state, and so my time in Joey's chair is now over. I've never found anyone as talented at hair as Joey. He's a genius. I came to him with hair that had been overly processed by my last colorist, and it was a hot mess! Joey started working his magic, and after my very first appointment with him, my hair looked so much better. I LOVED his salon. I loved how he pampered me. I loved the peace and the quiet, which feels like being in a spa. It's a much different experience than going to one of those salons where it's so loud that you have to yell at your stylist in order to be heard, and you feel like a number instead of a special client. Rather, Joey greets you with some tea, peaceful music, a nice fire, and the best part of all, the leg massager. I love how he makes it okay to just relax and not feel like you have to talk, unless you want to. However, before he gets down to business, he is all about LISTENING.....something that the hair salon world has no idea how to do. He actually LISTENS to what the client wants, then he makes suggestions, and he is very careful to take his time. Before you know it, you look in the mirror at the best hair color and cut EVER!!!! My color has never lasted so long, and I got lots of compliments on how rich it was. My highlights would grow out without my dark roots showing. I was really amazed, since it was his expert talent at mixing color for that to happen. I've never met anyone who was so consistent. So many times in the past I would find the perfect hair stylist, only to be disappointed the very next time I had an appointment with them, because they were having an "OFF" day. Joey is "ON" every time you are in his chair....a feat unmatched in the world of hair! Thank you, Joey, for such a wonderful experience! I wish you all the best!

Well worth the trip to Seattle. Just got my second cut and color by Joey and am once again very satisfied. It is a totally relaxing experience from the salon ambience to the marvelous tea, and last but not least . . the oh so relaxing massage chair experience while my hair color was setting. He even sends you home with chocolate! I felt like I'd been to the spa by the time I left. For those who want a unique and peaceful salon experience AND a spectacular cut and color, this is your kind of salon. I am a 50 something woman who was tired of the noisy, trendy salons who seem to cater to the younger set. Joey listens to your ideas, then translates those ideas into a great cut and color. You won't be disappointed.

Look no further than Joey. I decided a couple years back to grow up and stop getting $8 haircuts. After moving to Seattle I tried a few different ones before finding Joey. By far, he is the best for hair. Cool guy, awesome cuts. The price is worth every penny. And fellas, women know the difference between an $8 haircut and a more expensive one,,,and it pays off :)

Wow! Joey Is A Gem. I am so glad that I finally found a stylist that I love everything about. I found Joey online, and can't thank him enough for working me in the same week that he was already booked. I needed to go to an unscheduled and last-minute event, and I was overdue for a haircut and highlights.

I left his studio feeling amazingly gorgeous. He gave me the most flattering cut that compliments my features perfectly...not to mention the color, that is equally amazing. I wish I could put a picture up here of what he did. I liked that he really listened to me, and didn't rush me at all in explaining what I was after. He didn't mind that I just wanted to sit and relax and read magazines rather than chat the entire time, and there is french press organic coffee that is a totally unexpected bonus. I felt like Joey was my own stylist with the cozy and upscale nature of the salon. I will be back for my next cut and color, and am so glad I found Joey.

Excellent Stylist. I am so happy I found Joey, and so is my hair. I get more compliments than ever on my gorgeous color/highlights.

I am never unhappy with my cut or color. (and he never yells at me for letting my roots go for too long).

The salon is beautiful and Joey is SO NICE! Never a hard time making an appointment or feeling like I am welcome. As long as Joey is in business, I will be a client.

Jennifer Says It Best...100% Satisfied. Joey is the only hairstylist I've met who actually understands my struggle with this curly hair I have...thick & uncontrollable! Every time I've gone to him, I've walked out with hair that feels 40 pounds lighter, smoother and waaaay more manageable. I've put my hair into the hands of other people and it was always "You have SO much hair!" or "This is a complete workout!" To Joey, it's like a cake walk. If he can handle THIS, he can handle anything. The color/highlights he does are also outstanding. He spends a lot of time at the beginning really figuring out what I want to do with my hair - and he does it. So there's not much more to say other than he 's an AMAZING stylist.

And as far as the studio, I was extremely impressed. Very classy and comfortable atmosphere with unbelievably beautiful decor, and my favorite brand of tea. When I call for an appointment, Joey actually answers the phone and books my haircut and color. Where do you find that?

I will be back to Joey for my crazy hair, and am so glad I found him.
