Editorial Review for Bai Pai Restaurant – by Anna Roth
The Scene
This elegantly-decorated Thai restaurant is easy to miss, hidden under a block of condos. Warm walls, wicker chairs, large stone reliefs and carved sculptures all transport restaurant patrons away from the outside neighborhood into a more exotic setting. Food comes beautifully-presented on interesting tableware; servers are welcoming and forthcoming with recommendations.
The Food
In a city full of Thai restaurants, this one holds its own. The sampler plate is the standout appetizer, containing a good balance between crunchy and soft--shrimps fried in glass noodles, sweet banana shrimp cakes and chicken satay with a peanut sauce containing just the right amount of fire. Sauteed eggplant--fried, with tofu, in a black bean sauce--was a vegetarian knockout, while young coconut curry, filled with seafood, comes to the table in a hollow coconut shell. The flaming coconut rum ball is a slightly sweet dessert treat.

My husband and I eat a lot of Thai food and this is our new favorite place in the neighborhood. We went for the first time this last Friday for dinner. Super friendly, attentive service. Felt like fine dining, at a Thai restaurant! We ordered the pork lettuce cups to start (spicy!), the Pad See Eww and Bai Pai noodles, everything was perfect, hot and had tons of flavor! I also had the Green Tea Martini, yummy and different. We would highly recommend Bai Pai the next time you are in Ravenna!
Pros: great flavors, nice atmosphere, fabulous service!
Cons: more pricey than regular Thai, quiet crowd

We get a take out from here at least once a month. It has yet to let us down. We've been up and down the menu and generally find their food to be rich and appetizing. $10 gets you a decent sized main course. The only fault I found was the yellow curry - it's a bit too sweet. Regardless, it's by far the best Thai anywhere near Ravenna. Do it.
Pros: Fresh quality
Cons: No seating area for pick-up
