Editorial Review for Chez Gaudy – by Elizabeth Mortenson
In Short
Soft lighting and hanging fabric partitions create an intimate atmosphere of romance that feels decidedly French, even if the menu is self-proclaimed "Rustic Italian". Try out classic dishes with new twists like pears canned with thyme or veal stuffed ravioli. As you snuggle up to whomever you came with take all the time you want/need to meander through your meal--the staff is genuinely friendly and attentive.

Insider Tips
The ExtrasAll the furniture in the restaurant is for sale. If you see something you like, feel free to ask about the price.
When to GoEvery Tuesday all bottles of wine are deeply discounted and are complimented by cheap tapas, but make sure to keep track---plates add up fast.
Know Before You GoThe entrance is shielded by a screen door, and is literally down a hallway in a residential building, so keep your eyes open for their sign posted high on the corner of the street.

five stars? ha! only if each star counts as two points! a truly amorphic old-euro-style atmosphere, complete with antique-patchwork-decor and candle light, which could only evolve through passion and a love for comfort and hospitality. the Onasis platter was a virtual symphony, deeply layered and just damned delicious. Where do they shop for their wine? i want to know. just what one needs to unwind and enjoy - keep up the great work, guys! btw, it's not at all difficult to find...cheers
Pros: everything
Cons: none

After wandering around lower capitol hill we finally found the hidden delight of Chez Gaudy, The friendly and gregarious manager founds a a cute nook to sit and we enjoyed delightful drinks and a yummy dinner of pork loin stuffed with fresh mozzerlla and prosciutto (yumm) crispy on the outside juicey in the inside on some yummy creamy polenta and just right asparagus it went awesome with the wine suggested, we followed uo with creme brulee and a couple cocktails made for a perfect night, definatly would enjoy return again a nice little hidden niche on the hill
Pros: good food great service nice abience
