view & uploadCozy and Relaxing Spa. The Etherea Spa in the Alexis Hotel is a refreshing change from the sleek, tiptoe-and-whisper spas that are so popular these days. In fact, first timers may be surprised by the urban-deco-Jeannie-in-a-bottle feel of the place (only Jeannie never had valet parking the Alexis hotel offers). My personal interest was Aveda's new Plant Peel facial and Etherea was one of the few places that specializes in Aveda products and had an Aveda-trained Esthetician. Christa (my esthetician) turned out to be just wonderful. Her friendly professionalism was topped only by the ?little extras? she added to the facial (plucking a few black hairs from my chin?okay, too much information, a mini-foot massage, neck and shoulders too?sigh!) She explained the procedure and, while full results of the Plant Peel would require four visits a week apart, Christa didn?t push me to continue or purchase products. In for a penny, in for a pound, I figured. Four treatments later, my skin is definitely firmer, age spots less noticeable, and pores nearly non-existent. The peel is a little costly, but it?s worth every penny. The best part for me (being a Bellevue girl) was how easy it is to get to from the Eastside.
Beautiful skin.
Sometimes you don't know how truly great something is until you can no longer have it. Alice at Etherea Spa at the Alexis really knows how to make your skin look and feel its best. She is knowledgeable, comfortable, and doesn't push products or treatments. My troublesome skin glowed under her care and I always looked forward to her relaxing magic. Unfortunately, I have moved across the country and can't enjoy that wonderful experience any more.
To the other reviewers who had concerns about the spa atmosphere, I would ask what is most important to you? In a space as small as the Spa at the Alexis, what they lack in luxurious surroundings, they more than make up for with talent, expertise and top-quality treatments. I highly recommend them, and especially, Alice.
Fantastic spa + great staff = fabulous results!. Etherea at the Alexis is the best salon and spa in the city! After moving here from Chicago it took several attempts and a REALLY bad haircut and color at a "trendy" Seattle salon which will remain nameless before I found the fabulous team at Etherea. The front desk staff is highly organized and friendly, not to mention flexible - Heidi is always extremely accommodating when I call at the last minute to try and schedule appointments. Alice is the best esthetician I have ever encountered - she is highly skilled and makes you totally comfortable (even during a Brazilian wax which is no easy feat). She has helped my skin look better than ever - I've actually been stopped by complete strangers asking me how I keep my skin looking so great. From the moment you walk in the door to the moment you head home, Etherea provides a world-class experience that is unrivaled in Seattle.
Found my new salon. I had the best experience at the beltown Etherea with Lisa Vann, I thought I would check out the spa. It was great I saw Dion for a message and have never felt so relaxed.. Thanks to Etherea and the spa team..

Not enough space. I agree with the other reviewer, when they said that the place is way too cramped. I liked it better before they added all the hair stylist chairs. It was much better just as a spa. The area just isn't big enough for everything and I feel they compromised the spa end of it. Now it's noisy and not a place I want to go for facials or massage anymore.
Etherea = amazing!!!!.
it seems to me that Etherea has all the elements that you could ever want in a salon and spa.
I walked in and was greeted right away even though the girl at the desk was with other clients.
I started with a complimentary steam, and then followed with a massage by Ryan, which was more relaxing then I had expected "I have trouble being still" great job!. Moving along to my haircut with Kristel, and what a great haircut it was, you might be surprized how hard it is to find a really good mens cut, but I found it !
Etherea has it all!!
Loud & Crowded.
While the massage I had was excellent, the reception and background noise left much to be desired. The Alexis is a fabulous, peaceful destination, but the moment I entered the "spa" environment, that was all behind me. The check-in area was cramped and noisy from adjacent hair styling. The front desk assistant did not seem confident or organized. Being shuffled through to do paperwork and then through a skinny hallway with many people (were they all spa staff?) made me more uptight than before I came in to relax!
I hope that this spa can get things in place before the holidays when we stay at the Alexis again!
