Best cupcakes anywhere!. I have been to their Ballard location on four different occassions with four different individuals and every single time their cupcakes have been outstanding! We are planning on ordering their cupcakes for our daughter's wedding this summer and a small cake for cutting.

I have also been to two other businesses in the city, who specialize in cupcakes and they dont even come close. Their hot chocolate is to die for! This is just my opinion, but from the big crowds that are frequent to this location, I would say that they also agree

Cupcakes are best in the morning!. These cupcakes are fun and festive however there is a big difference about getting the cupcakes in the morning and in the afternoon. I went one morning with some friends and my red velvet with creamcheese frosting cupcake was so delicious, so moist and not extremely sweet. I wanted to come back for more, so I did. Unfortunately when I did I went one afternoon and got the same exact cupcake however, it was dry, not fresh and seem like it had been sitting in the case all day. These cupcakes are great but the quality is not always the same each time you come in. My advice: always come in the morning for fresher cupcakes.

Make it a Ballard outing. Cupcake Royale is a must stop destination on your weekend Ballard outing. Don't even try to decide between the MoFro (white cupcake with coffee frosting) or the raspberry and GET BOTH!

great coffee, too!. this place is a great place to read a book, a blind date, or meet a friend. i like the atmosphere a lot....open, high ceilings, friendly staff, cheap prices of coffee drinks...and of course...the cupcakes always deliver! always.

go as often as possible and live richly!

Mmmmmm...Amazing Cupcakes AND Great Coffee. This place is fantastic all around. I just moved here from NYC, and it's so cool to see a cupcake shop have fun with their cakes! No pre-fab, designer, froo-froo Manhattan cupcakes here. These beauties are frosted like mom did it. You can actually watch people lovingly spread the super tasty, colorful stuff on each delicious little cake. So great. I reccommend the MoFro, real coffee in chocolate butter cream frosting...very nice. And you have to get a delicious coffee to go with your cake. The baristas here are awesome, and the lattes are beautiful!

Best Coffee and Better Cupcakes!. I always enjoy visiting Verite Coffee and Cupcake Royale in Ballard. The staff is fun and personable and the cupcakes are DELICIOUS!

Seattle's unoriginal cupcake bakery. I simply can not believe that Cupcake Royale has three locations. Their cupcakes are terrible! I am a cupcake lover. I have tried them on three different occasions and was disappointed every time. The cake is very dry and the frosting is disgusting--and isn't that supposed to be the best part?

The fact that they are a niche company in a smaller city (than, say, New York) is the only plausible reason for their success. They call themselves "Seattle's original specialty cupcake bakery." Well, Seattle is the key word there, as the idea is hardly original. There are many specialty cupcake bakeries in New York that have been doing it longer (and MUCH better, I might add) than Cupcake Royale.

I love Seattle, so I find it unfortunate that places like this can thrive here due to the novelty factor and sheer lack of competition. It seems as if Cupcake Royale has put more effort into their Starbucks-ish "cupcake as a lifestyle" theme than their actual product. I want a cupcake, not a bumper sticker. Although the latter might taste better at Cupcake Royale.

Cupcakes are the draw at this trendy coffee shop--in both regular and bite-size pieces, they're light, airy and topped with a crown of frosting in flavors ranging from chocolate and lemon to the exotic lavender. The interior has a bright paint job and lots of room, although the leather couches and large tables are often filled with laptop-toting 20-somethings taking advantage of the free wi-fi and frosting sugar rush.
