What Our Expert Scouts Say

Chiang's Gourmet

Service can be surly if nearly non-existent but if you are in for the food surge ahead to this Lake City Way institution. Go with a group so you can try lots of dishes as everything I've had here is solid.

I was lucky to go w/2 Chinese food experts who picked the best of the best. My faves: sauteed shrimp (vinegary & addictive) & fish with noodle (total comfort casserole-type fare).

This place is great!. I was a little learly to try this place after the negative reviews I saw, but a friend recommended it so I tried it out. The food here is simply fantastic. The fried rice is really fresh and the General Tso's is amazing. I will deffinetly be returning to try out some other dishes but the food in my opinion is really good.

The service on the other hand could be problematic, as the place is deffinetly authentic and family owned, most of the employees don't speak great english. I guess the bottom line is if you want to be pampered by servers who speak clear as day english go somewhere else, if you want really great Chineese food - go to Chiang's!

one of the worst places in my entire life. chiangs gourmet is nothing close to gourmet. it is one of the WORST resteraunts ive ever been too. service is absolutely horrible.and for the food, well im not even chinese and even i can cook better chinese food. this place has a dreary atmosphere and it gives you the impression that there is only one cook and one waittress. they even walk away when your tying to ask them something. i would absolutely NOT reccomend going here . ive only went here because there were 14 good reviews but these people obviously have no idea.i woiuld not wasts the time or the money even trying it because you will be severly dissapointed. ive also been cooking for 13 years and have tried many more resteraunts than that. if you want good chinese food i would definitely go to chinatown , like shanghai garden or something. but belive me when i say that chiangs BEYOND belief. they should be ahsamed to even be chinese and do what they do.

WORST SERVICE EVER. A resturant that demands more tips??. This is the first time I went there; it was the worst treatment I have ever gotten in eating out. First, the food isn't that tasty to match its pricey menu. Second, we finished our first 2 dishes already before the other dishes came. Then, we had to wait even longer for the dessert soup because it was still "cooking" (I get the feeling though they rather have us leave but we decided to wait as we were all happily chatting away). Naturally, we left minimal amount of tip (12%). THEY ACTUALLY CAME UP TO US, SAID WE DIDN'T LEAVE ENOUGH TIPS, AND ASKED FOR MORE TIPS. WHO DOES THAT?!?!

We will never go there again.
